Whats the Big Deal?

#1 Postby jlauderdal » Sun Jan 23, 2005 10:55 am

Currently 70 and partly cloudy here in fort lauderdale...windows are open. Seriousely, the front is abouyt an hour away on radar and we will be in the 50's by 3 pm with coldest air of the season tonight. To those in the NE, enjoy the blizzard as they are rare events with this type of intensity.

It is a truly glorious day here in Central FL. Crystal clear blue skies. My weatherbug says temp. is 54 at the airport. However, here on the lake and out of the north wind, it is approaching 60 degrees.

The winds will help prevent a killing frost and keep our green grass green. But wiith temps expected to drop into the high 20's here and lower just north of here, we could see some plant and crop damage around the state. :(

Persepone - let's do that home exchange for your next blizzard!

Stupid TWC raised the low to 40 here  . I thought it was going to be a rapid cool down today but no its in the mid 60's and the sun is out. Feels like a normal day. The front has already passed through but no change in temps. Its 10 degrees colder only 15 miles north of here. I will be one angry Floridian if it doesnt get cold tonight :grr: .

We have over 16 inches on the ground. In the backyard, drifts are over 3 feet and we are scared that if temperatures warm quickly or it rains that we will get severe flooding just like 2 years ago, accept it wasn't as bad as it could be. Is there a change a rapid warm-up for new jersey will quickly melt the snow and cause flooding.
