Well Happy Valentine's Day Everyone.
Just look at what a difference a year can make in the weather. Last year at this time we here in NTX, people awoke to the site of snow falling and a total of 4 to 6 inches across the D/FW area. The temps that day hovered in the lower 30's while the kids built snowmen and the fireplace was roaring. But not this year, Todays temp are expected to be in the upper 70's with plenty of sunshine, kids had school and I'm here stuck at work typing this post, man I sure do miss last years SPECIAL Valentine's day SNOW fall.

What lame winter this has been. We had three days around Christmas where it was "winter cold." The coast saw a rare, historic snowfall at the same time. Otherwise, nothing.
And I would say that anyone hoping for a late-season blast ought to give it up. Even if we do see some polar air, it won't be significant enough to get us all excited. Damn El Nino!

Michael,
I sure know what you mean, since Christmas it has been pretty much a bummer for winter. I had really expected more cold this year with the way the NW had been so cold and that those cold air masses would slide down into the southern states. El Nino has been weak this winter so it has had little impact on our weather. From here on out I really don't see much of a chance for any winter weather for the Southern states except for maybe GA. With 14 days left in February and the spring planting season 15 day's after that it's time to start looking forward to the Severe Weather season and get ready for some good old storm spotting and chasing.

Yep, it was pretty much a blah winter here. I'm hoping for a blah spring as well. It can rain all it wants, but keep the hail and tornadoes away. BTW, I read an article that "experts" are predicting this coming summer will be worse than 1998. God I hope not. That was a summer to make you want to leave DFW and never move back.

Really? Oh no ... that was a horrible summer, weatherwise. I remember it well because my youngest son was born in early June. I remember all of the smoke coming into Texas from the Mexican fires and I remember a long, long hot summer.
I hope the "experts" are wrong.
Yeah CC, bring on the storm-chasing. It's about time for us to gear up for spring severe weather season.

Summer Heat,
We will surely pay for that mild summer and record rain fall we had last year. This will be a hot summer and I would not be suprise if we see one or two 7 to 10 day runs of 100+ temps.
Spring last year wasn't bad, we really didn't have that much severe weather (Tornados, straight line winds, lg hail) but we did have allot of flooding. This spring should be more active for Severe Weather with what models have been showing in a late run of colder wx for the N and NE, these should send cool fronts backing in or coming straight down into TX that could work with the dry lines as they form out in WTX and move E.
