February 9, 2005 ENSO Numbers

#1 Postby donsutherland1 » Tue Feb 15, 2005 2:01 pm

The February 9 weekly ENSO regional data has come in. The new figures suggested that the recent sharp cooling trend had diminished. In fact, there was a little warming in some of the regions. Consequently, the idea that the current weak El Niño will fade rather than collapse still seems reasonable.

Region 1+2:
Feb 2: 24.6°C -0.8°C
Feb 9: 25.1°C -0.6°C

Region 3.4:
Feb 2: 26.9°C +0.2°C
Feb 9: 27.0°C +0.3°C

Region 3:
Feb 2: 25.9°C -0.2°C
Feb 9: 26.2°C No anomaly

Region 4:
Feb 2: 29.0°C +0.9°C
Feb 9: 28.8°C +0.8°C
