We had a tornado here in Temecula at 946am...we woke up to the sound of it...but it missed us...Thank God...the hill in backyard is sliding just a tiny bit...nothing that we think we have to worry about... deep standing water covering our yard and patio area...crazy storms here guys....but the bright side of things is that Big Bear is getting dumped on with snow, which makes the rest of our weekend awesome and powdery!

Josh...how are you faring through this latest round of winter storms? More to come....

Last Night

#4 Postby aveosmth » Sat Feb 19, 2005 10:36 pm

The storm last night was absolutely awesome....we had an 1.25 inch hail w/a severe cell that passed by me. It was an unreal sight...the rain was coming down at 1.50 inches per hour and I was driving 20 mph on the freeway. If anyone knows about VIL's the cell that hit us had a value of 35!!! We had several mesos in the area and some cells w/3 directional shear. Today there were 4 tornado sightings including the one mentioned in Temecula....weird weather in Temecula this winter first snow now a tornado....can you believe Los Angeles has 12 inches more rain this year than Seattle!!!!!!!!!!! Thats unreal!!

Up here in Seattle we aren't suppose to see any rain until March 2nd. We've had a week of sun and have another full week of it ahead of us.

EDIT: Almost everyday there isn't a SINGLE cloud in the sky. It is blue everywhere.

Looking at 10 day ECMWF Seattle remains high and DRY. LA remains cool/cold and WET. Maybe the tilt of the planet is changing due to the earthquake in December. It sure seems like it to me. However by winter on June 21st(er summer?) I think precip might make it this far north again.

Pretty wet in your neck of the woods, Joshua. And a tornado in Temecula? Glad you are all ok.

My son and family were very worried about the tall pine in their front yard...thought they were going to lose it during the storm.

Wouldn't you know it...the first time in weeks that new granddaughter Olivia slept through the night, and the rest of the family was awake from all the rain, wind, thunder and lightning!

They are about 3 miles inland from Pt Vicente on Rancho Palos Verdes.

Good point Cumulo! The jetstream has to come north as the northern hemisphere warms up. That is a law of nature. That could put Seattle in total crap this summer. It has happened before.

aveo...I see your so cal posts...where are you located? We're still getting rain...its a mess but thank God, neither of us has to commute...

We really enjoyed the snow up at Big Bear this weekend, tho it took forever to get up the mountain on Sunday...they don't use "real" snowplows so the roads are a nightmare...

He lives in the Santa Monica area. :)

Yep models do show another storm by early next week, though I haven't looked too much into it yet with today's active weather and all.
