Winter Storm Warning for Pittsburgh area through Tuesday!!!!

#1 Postby BlizzzardMan » Sun Feb 27, 2005 3:51 pm

This is weird. They've now lightened up on our amounts a bit here for tomorrow but they've extended the snow into Tuesday and are apparently calling for even greater total accumulations than they were before. This is REALLY reminding me of Pres. Day 2 more and more now. I said this days ago. With that one, it didn't snow very heavy here but snowed for 2 days and we ended up with 18 inches out of it getting moisture off of 2 different lows. Maybe 8 to 12 inches total out of this one for this area? We'll see I guess. Here's the Warning for this area:

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM MONDAY TO 4 PM
TUESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH PA HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING.

SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS THE REGION WILL BEGIN MONDAY MORNING AND
CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY AFTERNOON. ACCUMULATIONS OF GREATER THAN 8
INCHES ARE LIKELY ACROSS THE ENTIRE WARNING AREA BY TUESDAY
AFTERNOON. THE CURRENT TRACK OF THE STORM WOULD PROVIDE THE HEAVIEST
ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE WARNING AREA WITH
SLIGHTLY LESS ACCUMULATIONS TO THE NORTH. FINAL SNOWFALL
ACCUMULATIONS RELY HEAVILY ON THE EXACT TRACK OF THESE STORM SYSTEMS.
A DEPARTURE FROM THE CURRENT PROJECTED PATH WILL GREATLY REDUCE
ACCUMULATIONS.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO AND OTHER LOCAL MEDIA FOR FURTHER
DETAILS OR UPDATES.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Before they were calling for 4 to 6 inches here for tomorrow but it was supposed to end tomorrow night. Now they're saying 2 to 4 tomorrow, but also 2 to 4 tomorrow night and then more on Tuesday. Originally they were saying around 6 inches or so here total. Now they're saying 8 or more inches total. So, they've upped the total amounts a little.
