The last chance for snow in the Carolinas?

#1 Postby DLI2k5 » Mon Feb 28, 2005 2:34 pm

I truly think this was our last great chance for recieving any snowfall here in the Carolinas for this winter. The track for the storm was very good, but not enough cold air in place and thus the big rain event. This winter has truly been one of the worst winters ever for getting any snow here in the south! I don't know what the long range models are indicating, but right now with temps forecasted in the 50's projected to go into the 60's later this week here, doesn't bode for us this late in the winter. Maybe next year, i hope!

Yes this winter sucked and I'm glad it's about over. Bring on the hurricanes.

 --------So much for any future forecast for snow in the Carolinas.....I don't believe it will happen this winter or maybe the next (2) winters as long range models show intense summer heat ans La Nina winter next year................

Jetstream Bob,

Not surprising your pessimistic outlook, but don't give up hope yet Carolinians. Still a lot of cold air in March that could easily come your way and mix with moisture to create snow. Don't give up hope yet. Just when you want spring....BANG.....it will snow a lot.

There is a chance for at least two more Noreasters over the next 3 weeks, one however might be a Miller type A so that doesn't really help places south of VA...

i also believe we will see warmer winters ahead, however if you follow sun spot cycles you will see that next year should be the last cold year in the east... La nina does argue for warm and I agree that it is setting up, but watch... 96 was a La nina year, sometimes the transition years can be the worst for snowfall
