Friday Night: A chance of rain and snow before midnight, then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%

Snow forecast graphic, don't think I've ever seen one of these down here!

There's a Beaumont NWS now? LOL j/k

I'm trying to hold back my enthusiasm and maintain an I'll believe it when I see it mentality, but it's sure hard. Even Greg Bostwick (greg_kfdm_tv on here) is now saying it might snow!

From KFDM: An upper level disturbance will move across our area Friday with areas of rain developing in the morning. With the airmass getting colder, the rain will likely change over to snow in the afternoon and evening hours mainly along and north of Interstate 10. Any snow will end before midnight Friday night with some clearing allowing temperatures to fall into the upper 20's Saturday morning. It remains too early to tell how much if any snow accumulates Friday.

Which NWS office covers the Biloxi/Gulfport area? Slidell or NOLA?

So if I want to read the latest discussions on this developing winter weather I would simply go to the NWS website and pull up Gulfport/Biloxi to read what the NWS is forecasting might happen here in Harrison County or pull up Slidell?

New Orleans got snow last year. Up to 8" just north of there. It's still a rare sight this far south though. I don't think snow has covered the ground in Mobile since 1997 or 1998.

For Frick & Frack, last December! (as well as other surrounding areas) - Another snow event this quickly would be absolutely amazing for this part of the country.

Frack's snow pic thread

Just looked through them again... wow, that was beautiful stuff.

Actually, Slidell/NOLA office covers all of the MGC...Jackson, harrison, and Hancock, and Pearl River county (picayune). They have snow for Jackson county Friday night as well as the entire gulf coast.

Mobile covers Stone and George County...they also have snow for those counties as well. Mobile is not calling for snow for MObile proper right now.

...THE POTENTIAL FOR WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL EXIST FOR MOST AREAS
FRIDAY NIGHT...

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS THE DEEP SOUTH FRIDAY
AND FRIDAY NIGHT. A COLD AIRMASS IS ALREADY ESTABLISHED OVER THE
REGION AND WILL PROVIDE THE POTENTIAL FOR AREAS OF SNOW OR A
WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION FRIDAY NIGHT.

AN ALL SNOW LINE WILL BEGIN TO MOVE INTO THE AREA FROM THE
NORTHWEST AROUND SUNSET FRIDAY AND SHOULD BE LOCATED ALONG A LINE
FROM BAYOU SORREL TO HATTIESBURG MISSISSIPPI BY MIDNIGHT. THIS
INCLUDES THE BATON ROUGE METROPOLITAN AREA. A SNOW SLEET MIX
SHOULD EXIST ALONG A LINE FROM THIBODAUX TO SAUCIER MISSISSIPPI AT
MIDNIGHT INCLUDING THE NORTHSHORE OF LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN. A RAIN
SLEET MIX SHOULD EXIST ALONG A LINE FROM HOUMA TO OCEAN SPRINGS
MISSISSIPPI BY MIDNIGHT...INCLUDING THE SOUTHSHORE AREA OF

ANY WINTRY MIXED PRECIPITATION ARE EXPECTED TO BE NO GREATER
THAN ONE INCH WITH THE BEST CHANCES FOR ACCUMULATIONS ALONG AND
NORTHWEST OF A LINE FROM THIBODAUX TO SAUCIER MISSISSIPPI.

THE LARGEST PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH THIS EVENT WILL BE THE POSSIBILITY
OF PRECIPITATION FREEZING ON ELEVATED ROADWAYS BECOMING A TRAVEL
HAZARD. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES MAY BE NECESSARY LATER TODAY OR
EARLY FRIDAY.

Well, this thread brought us good luck last winter, and a month ago. Time to give it another shot.

Currently, NWS has 20% chance of sleet for me on Thursday and that's it. No snow in the forecast. Come on magic thread, do your stuff!
