Im happy with today up here(heck I was prepared for a 10 minute flizzard that barely counts) this actually got beyond that because it was on and off for hours but I keep thinking if it had more moisture.. cold air was not the issue. We were almost in the teens for most of the flurries! It would have been a clear snowstorm. Also it should be noted we had a decent flurry event with hardly any echoes on radar...

Definitely impressed to see this on the very first event we get rid of the heat as well with plenty more cold forecast

A very unexpected little rain shower here near Pilot Knob just SW of the Austin airport. Big, heavy drops. 35.4 degrees with a stiff breeze makes it not very fun to be outside.

So close, yet so far.

Talk about out of nowhere. Went from basically 0% chance of precip to a very heavy rain with cloud to ground lightning. Red portion of the cell went right overhead - precip depiction on RadarScope showed a wintery mix but all i saw was rain. Decided to make a drive around the neighborhood to see what it said our temperature was and my jeep was saying 30 here in Kyle (if you believe the jeep thermometer).

EWX added a discussion update for the possibility of freezing rain or sleet along and east of I-35.

WWA for East Texas. Minor sleet accumulation around Nacogdoches with temps around freezing. Light snow around Kilgore with temps in mid 20s. Band of flurries moving in here, NW Smith County, with temps in the low 20s. The wave is creating the best lift where temps are borderline so with recent warmth I doubt there are any significant roadway issues. Around here with low 20s any precip should stick regardless of prior temps.

It appears that some cold air has reached Houston. Hopefully, this is the worst we'll see this winter. GFS indicates future fronts will be weaker. Back up near 80 degrees next weekend. That'll be more like it. My home thermometer says 32.4F at present. Perhaps I won't go for a bike ride today.

Some small flakes falling her in dallas from what looks like a lake-induced band. Very light, but my kids are enjoying it.

No wonder the Euro is having such a hard time with its forecasted lows for TX this morning, Shreveport's sounding from this morning shows how shallow this Arctic airmass is as it runs ahead of the shortwave trough coming through.

Flakes have gotten bigger and more widespread here. It’s Lake Ray Robert’s that creating this band.

I'm not sure Houston is ready for 57 in spandex. :D

Don't wear lycra while on my mountain bike, just regular mountain bike shorts. However, I'd have to wear my insulated tights (good down to 10 deg), double layer insulated top, heavy full-finger gloves, hat, and neoprene face shield to bike in this weather. Not going to happen. Fortunately, I am fully prepared to last through this two days of winter. By next weekend, I'll be back in shorts enjoying the above-normal temps. Thermometer saying 31.6F now. Not good. My banana trees aren't going to like this.

That caught everyone by surprise. Mother Nature loves to throw a curveball every now and then. I’m also impressed by your level of weather weenie-ism to get out there and drive around! Sounds like something I’d do (if I was awake at the time...lol).

Got down to 25 here at the Portastorm Weather Center this morning. Bbbrrr.

Yep, you are are correct. Woke up to flurries at my house as well and still going.

From FWD: Also, with the recording setting warmth to end 2021, lake waters
remain relatively warm, so there have been some mPing and social
media reports of very localized lake effect snow showers or
flurries occurring along S to SE lake shores from the larger lakes
around the DFW Metro and surrounding areas. This possibility
should exist through much of the day, or until speeds knock off
low enough late in the day to minimize the very localized threat
and impacts.
