Steve McCauley Facebook update:

<EDIT> Since the transition to snow appears to be occurring very rapidly over the DFW Metroplex (so much for the heat island!), it is possible to pick up an additional 1 to 2 inches than indicated on this map, particularly in Denton and Collin Counties.

And here is the ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL forecast from noon through 6 AM. White Christmas still on the way for the Metroplex as sleet/snow now pushing into the western sections of Tarrant/Denton Counties.

Watch out for any thundersnow, because that could push the totals up locally. ;-) But those should be an exception rather than a rule.

It's now snowing (moderately - mixed with some sleet) in North Dallas. Temperature is 37F at the moment, but it will probably rapidly fall as the snow cools the atmosphere and the cold air advects in.

Moderate to heavy snow! Sticking to cars now and a little on the grass. Sadly, I am without my good camera :(

I'll try to take some video on my old flip a little later

The rain is mixing with sleet here in south Garland now! :D

I can't see the sleet but I can hear it; and feel it on my jacket. On the other hand.... the water is sticking on the tree branches now; instead of running off, it's coagulating into large drops hanging from the ends of the twigs. The temperature must be dropping fast; this changeover should be done pretty soon.

I'm about to drive to north Plano where my mom lives. I'll drive safely, and bring my camera of course.

Snowing in Oak Cliff: Big Heavy Flakes that are now taking 15-20 seconds to melt on contact with the car's wet windshield. It's cooling down quickly.

Photos are not really picking up the flakes, but visuals to come.

Really coming down and it's cold. I'll take more pictures when the ground gets white at a park nearby. Such magic beauty on Christmas!
