I've also noticed that, hopefully it's just an outlier (being weird as well) and not the beginning of a trend for other models to follow. That would be annoying!

UPDATE: Nope! It still comes in with the cold and snow! Not the definition of a "Blue Norther" but still nasty cold!

Splits the energy. Still cold by the sheer mass of the HP but technically is a faster solution. More wonky moves .

I think the ICON is just trying to entertain us.

Still a severe cold run. But still not knowing how the northern stream goes.

ICON still gets me Below Zero, but not as crazy compared to the 12z Run.

Do like how the HP slides right down the Great Plains damming up against the front range.

Do I see flurries popping up in Southern Texas on Christmas Eve on the 0z ICON?

The 0z GFS has slowed down the first storm before Christmas, it could be either a good thing or a bad thing.

GFS might go more south, maybe. Path to the east is blocked by Ontario big PVa. The east runs of the past days had a clear path.

Love that East Coast Ridge that has been trending stronger.

And here comes the Arctic Cannon on the 0z GFS! However, that trough is weaker compared to 12z.

For sure though mid week is liable for cold to bleed instead of being warmer. Before the big plunge.

Some runs had DFW in the 50s and we may struggle in the 30s.

Can someone post a map so we can see what you are referring to?

GFS holding some energy back in the SW. It wouldn't take much more for the NS to phase with that

Sure, this is the GFS trend for the 500 mb height anomalies.

GFS back off to the east this run. 500 MB pattern looks a lot different this run. Windshield wipers until we get past the weekend imo.
