Looks like the potential for dynamic snow growth somewhere, maybe even convective at times. Much depends on coastal low.

its already starting to snow in middlesex county, new jersey but it's very light, it doesn't show it on radar though, why?

Most likely it is because of the setting you local NWS has it set. Reflectivity setting, sort of a filter many times used to screen virga. So when the colors reach you, it will be heavier snow.

I heard one forecaster say, there was some ocean effect snow.

Radar filling in nicely in D.C. area now. Here we go. Light snow now and 19.8 degrees.

Moderate snow here.. only about an inch of accum so far...

Here in Fredericksburg we had a very heavy and quick 1 inch of snow. Now it is heavy sleet and getting icy quick. Do not see how this area will see 4-6 inches of snow unless they are putting a lot of stock in wrap around and coastal development.
