Our NWS (PIT) hasnt mentioned anything about snowfall in the forecast. Now just saying snow showers Sat through Mon.

And i still say EAST of Detroit, but i could see how they'd get 1-3 inches.

A STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE OUT OF THE GULF STATES THIS AFTERNOON AND
INTENSIFY AS IT RAPIDLY MOVES TOWARD THE AREA. RAIN WILL BEGIN TO
OVER SPREAD THE REGION LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH MOST OF
THE DAY ON SATURDAY. AT THIS TIME...THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO
TAKE A TRACK ACROSS WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND
THEN MOVE INTO WESTERN NEW YORK SATURDAY NIGHT. ON THE EASTERN
SIDE OF THIS SYSTEM WARMER AIR WILL BE IN PLACE KEEPING THE
PRECIPITATION AS RAIN...TO THE WEST OF THE SYSTEM COLDER AIR WILL
MOVE DOWN FROM THE GREAT LAKES CAUSING THE RAIN TO CHANGE TO SNOW.
ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF OHIO SATURDAY
AFTERNOON. BY SATURDAY EVENING THIS COLDER AIR WILL FILL IN ACROSS
THE REST OF THE REGION TURNING ALL OF THE PRECIPIATION TO SNOW.
THE THREAT FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY
NIGHT.

OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS...THE FORECAST TRACK AND SPEED OF
THIS STORM HAS CHANGED GREATLY AND THERE IS STILL MUCH
UNCERTAINTY SURROUNDING THIS STORM. THE STORM TRACK WILL BE
CRUCIAL TO WHERE THE RAIN SNOW LINE SETS UP AND OF COURSE HOW MUCH
SNOW WE WILL SEE BY SUNDAY MORNING.

Its not going to be EAST of Detroit... Detroit should see around 4, maybe 5 inches from this. Blowing snow will also be a problem. Just in time for the Super Bowl!

I'm pretty sure with the upcoming pattern we are about to enter, Philly will see many chances for snow. I wouldn't worry.

Major Winter Storm to affect the Ohio Valley...




WKCT Weather Alert...
A strong low pressure center will develop over Louisiana and lift northeastward along the spine of the Appalachians this weekend. The storm will strengthen as it moves into west central PA on Saturday night. Snow will develop on Saturday afternoon and continue through Sunday morning. Some rain or sleet could mix in at times. Total snow accumulation by late Sunday morning will range from 3 to 6 inches along and south of Interstate 70. 5 to 8 inches north of I 70. 1 to 3 inches along the Ohio River where more rain and sleet is expected. This is a developing situation that could change. Monitor later forecasts. Stay tuned to WKCT Internet Radio for further updates.

Our local NWS just changed the forecast to mostly rain for Saturday changing to some snow showers on Sunday. I am located about 30 miles west of the Ohio River and about 40 miles north of I- 70.

Radar this am shows that the cold air is definitely wrapping in. You may get your snow before tomorrow.

A lot of snow fell, but the ground here in Columbus was just way too wet after such heavy rain this morning. A total of 0 inches! Was becoming clear to me around mid afternoon this afternoon that this just wasn't working out. Snow looked mightily impressive as it fell though.

But hey...at least the pattern change is taking place. Hopefully, the next snowfall will meet frozen ground.

Yeah, further north and west seems to be the right places. It really looked like for a time it could have been here. I am dissappointed but you know, thats the way it goes. Someone was going to get it really good and today it wasn't here!

Why that snow advisory is still out there for us when hardly any accumulation is expected with overnight showers and there is 0 inches on the ground is beyond me. All we really need is a hazordous weather outlook for a few slick patches on the road in my opinion Our NWS office did not really seem to be on top of this today. The snow events in December they handled very well but this one they've been all over the place!

Actually, some of the snow showers are starting to fill in a bit north and west of Columbus...so maybe we'll salvage a light covering from this afterall.

Michigan is doing pretty well by the looks of things.

I have learnt today that it is possible to get a very decent snowfall in central Ohio if all the ingredients come together...today they didn't but things could have been different. (Only been in the USA since September 2004!)

13.5 inches has been measured at the weather station here since the snow began yesterday around 1pm. Still snowing, supposed to be blowing snow today.
