This will be a fairly interesting event. Up here in Eastern NC, just checked out the dewpoints from around the area, solid between 16 (further west, up near Rocky Mount) through 20 (along the coast). Even Cape Hatteras, which is usually way warmer due to being surrounded by the ocean and sounds, checks in with a 31 degree dewpoint. Another interesting thing to note is that todays highs were 46, we only have hit 43 as of 1:55 pm. So, will the dewpoints jump up far enough to have us hit only a low of 36, as forecast, or are the temps going to drop further? That is the main question, but with the column expecting to warm up by daybreak, I still do not see any precip issues, even if our high and low was 33.

I live about 2 block inland from the GOM. I observed little wind, it was mostly a rain event for me. I did take the time to venture down to the beach. Tides were running a little above normal and there were lots of whitecaps on the sound. It was a cold rain all day.....MGC

Agree MGC yes it should be mostly a rain event. Maybe some gusts near
the squall further south but mostly rain. Also the local Meteorologists
said that severe weather is not expected, so this will bring the good
rain.

I was wondering if it was a rogue buoy or not, but with what you said, noticed it this morning:

Keep in mind, those winds are NOT in MPH, but rather in KNOTS. Meaning that 62.2 knot one is about, 72 mph, correct? That is pretty good for a sustained wind.

Did you see the storms which are developing embedded into the cold front?

The last thunderstorm at the end of the cold front seems a supercell to me... Do you agree?

Wow............... I love thunderstorms that develop in your country... What a kind of thunderstorms!

Miami forecast discussion isn't even making mention of the squall line. Obviously, they think it won't amount to much if/when it gets here, as usual. Why do these squall lines intensify out there and then fall apart as they approach the mainland? Are they just aided by the Loop Current?
