As expected, Teens are forecast for the Florida panhandle. Extremely cold by any standards for this area. The Highs will struggle to get out of the 30's Monday for much of the Florida panhandle and with the wind chill being a big factor it will feel even colder :cold:

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 43. Breezy, with a northwest wind between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 18. North wind around 5 mph.

Up to about 15 snowflakes here. Very erratic, snows for a minute then completely stops.

The real story is the wind, it is howling here.

Yeah, it's not much at all. I was expecting a little more than this to be honest, but you take what you can get in the deep south. The real story the next couple of days is going to be extreme cold. Low teens here tomorrow night after a high around 30, with some single digits possible.

Single digit wind chills are likely.

I think the cold front has passed. Im pretty sure its still not 57 degrees outside which i saw on weather.com and the winds are really intense and it feels like the upper 30 outside. Not looking forward to school tommorow.

This air mass must be cold. We are getting into the mid 20's tonight here in BTR and that is with quite a fierce wind. I wonder what it would be with a calm wind, probably close to the teens. Brrr!

From Birmingham(on the heels of freezing drizzle today)

MODELS ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME IN DETERMINING THE EXTENT
OF THE COLD AIR THAT THE LOW WILL BRING INTO THE AREA FRIDAY
NIGHT/SATURDAY MORNING...AS WELL AS THE AMOUNTS. THE PREVIOUS
FORECAST WAS MUCH WARMER AND PROFILES SUPPORTED JUST RAIN ACROSS THE
NORTHERN HALF OF THE AREA. THE LATEST MODELS ARE NOW INDICATING AT
LEAST SOME SUPPORT FOR SOME FROZEN PRECIPITATION NORTH OF THE I-20
CORRIDOR.
THIS WILL BE A DIFFERENT SCENARIO AS TODAY AS IT WILL BE
THE COLD AIR TRYING TO WORK OUT THE WARMER AIR. IN FACT WE MAY SEE A
WARM NOSE GET STUCK AROUND THE 700 TO 850 MB LEVELS WITH FREEZING OR
NEAR FREEZING TEMPERATURES AT THE SURFACE LATE FRIDAY NIGHT/SATURDAY
MORNING. THE MAGNITUDE OF THIS WARM NOSE WILL DETERMINE THE EXTENT
OF THIS THREAT AND RESULTANT PRECIPITATION. FOR NOW...SOUNDING
PROFILES INDICATE A SNOW/RAIN MIX POSSIBLE AS FAR SOUTH AS A SELMA
TO ROANOKE LINE BY SATURDAY MORNING.
WILL GO A TOUCH NORTH OF THAT
AND STICK WITH THE I-20 CORRIDOR. STILL ALOT OF TIMING ISSUES AND
THREATS TO WORK OUT AS THIS APPROACHES...SO STAY TUNED.

Every rare snow event in forecast for my area is a bust but when its forecast for another area its always more than expected. Same thing with a hurricane. I started watching the weather when i was 10 in 2006 and the hurricane seasons have been boring except 2008 when I didnt pay attention to it.

By "south", we're talking Central Plains (Kansas) east through the Ohio/Tennessee valleys to the Mid Atlantic Coast. I don't see any indications of anything but rain across the Gulf Coast states. Even rain would be interesting, though, as we haven't had any significant rain here since August. Could be a major winter storm for the East U.S. Coast.
