Re: Snow in the deep south Mid January?
Thanks for the info. I live in Canton, GA, but my brother lives in NC and I was checking for him also...
One of our local stations is telling us possible snow and another one is totally downplaying the system. They only talk about rain... Very confusing, don't know who to believe. The one predicting possible snow/frozen rain, sleet, etc. said that by tomorrow AM, they should give us a better indication of what's going to happen... My main concern is that my husband leaves for work @ 4:45 AM he's the first one in our community to leave for work, and since we live on a mountain, the roads are very steep and winding.... I'm afraid there'll be ice on the road and he won't know the conditions until he drives through them... Our roads are not maintained by the City since it's private property, scary situation for us ex-Floridians....

Re: Snow in the deep south Mid January?
I still looks good for snow in a narrow swath from extreme northern Georgia, extreme Upstate South Carolina, the Southern and Central WNC mountains, and maybe even the N.C. foothills. In fact, the N.C. foothills could be the real winner IF temperatures cooperate. We'll see. It's definitely going to be cold between now and then - so what falls will stick.

Winter Storm Watch hoisted for a chunk of Western North Carolina, mainly north of I-85. Dewpoints running MUCH lower than progged, may be a little more interesting than originally thought. Storm really looks to be taking shape nicely in the Western GOM. Stay tuned.

Re: Snow in the deep south Mid January?
Everything still on track for the Southern and Central WNC mountains (see the towns I posted previously). Also looks like a significant freezing rain event for the foothills - say Clemson > Pickens > Tryon > Columbus > Lake Lure > Old Fort > Marion > Lenior > Dobson. As mentioned by a poster above, the dewpoints are low (12 here yesterday!). It's been very cold in the mornings (believe me, I bicycle commute everyday).
I can even see things getting interesting in the Piedmont "Triad" area of North Carolina also - but I'm guessing Charlotte is just a bit too far south and east.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for the Charlotte Metro area. Not much to get excited about. They are still unsure about CAD which sometimes leads to icing issues. Keep posting VOODOO, not too many Carolinians posting anymore it appears. 18.4 this morning.

Well...ain't that something...at 11:52 the NWS saw it trending colder and posted a WWA for Columbia. Nothing to get excited about, but at least it is a better chance of getting a little something wintery.....

Don't worry I am. LOL. Already got pictures and video(pictures don't show much).
Heavy snow here now... huge flakes. Temperatures in the upper 30's so I don't think it'll stick around, but I didn't expect this to begin with.

Think the 45-minute snow shower may be over. Looks like mostly sleet now.
It was fun while it lasted. That was exciting.
