Hi! Long time lurker here, do any of you see any sleet/snow potential in the South Ms area?

Welcome to the forum. Not sure what area of MS you're located in, but this looks to be primarily a freezing rain/sleet event for portions of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Think most of the accumulating snow stays north into Kentucky and Tennessee. For more detailed info for your specific area, I would refer you to your local national weather service office (assuming the Jackson MS office). They have already put out some public information regarding the upcoming winter weather threat for that region.

Thanks for your reply and yes I have checked out the NWS website for my area (im just north of Hattiesburg) they have us with a slight chance of freezing rain Monday night/Tuesday morning. I was hoping we could end up getting a surprise out of the event. Usually if we get something here it’s not in the forecast until the last minute.

Dropping pretty quick once the sun sets. Currently 18. Our forecasted low for tonight is 4. I wonder if we’ll break that at this rate.

Clear skies here for now. We are supposed to get some cloud cover at some point overnight I believe. CAA should be pretty strong regardless of radiational cooling or cloud cover.

Yeah I hear ya, but unfortunately like Texas, the air above isn't cold enough at all levels to support snow for this event down in your region. I think if you're looking for some snow, it would be for northern areas of your state to mix in with the sleet or perhaps end as all snow before precip ends. Probably should've included them as well above. Could see several inches up there. Hopefully we/you get a few more opportunities before winter is over.

00z models are running. The s/w responsible for delivering winter wx to our region will come onshore tonight into the early morning hours. These are probably the last couple of runs to hope for a big change.

I don't get it. Frostbite kicks in pretty quickly at that temp....
I would be very concerned if I were there.

I don’t really follow closely or watch his videos, nor have I model chased today at all today to see if there is new data yet, but Texas Storm Chasers just posted this if anyone is interested:
Working on an update video now regarding INCREASING ice chances/coverage late Sunday afternoon into Monday. Will have it up by 9PM and share it here.

Of course he could be talking anywhere in the state.

Nam is showing increased coverage and accumulation. A lot more QPF in the state. I have a feeling there is going to be a ton of freezing drizzle can’t imagine what that looks like with temps in the teens. Very surprised people here are quite.

Usually because they want snow and nothing is really exciting about freezing drizzle.
We're an hour or two ahead in terms of temperature so it's more likely we'll see more snow anyway (hopefully).

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation
Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?
All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Re: Texas Winter 2023-2024
I bet tomorrow will be more active once the precip is the main focus. We all knew the cold was coming. Could be people taking a weather break before it gets interesting tomorrow.

Is there a thick warm layer above the cold air? Every met has freezing drizzle for DFW even though temps will be well into the 20s

I don't know. QPF looks about the same or maybe a little less than 18z overall. Maybe some more QPF across SE TX, but there weren't any obvious trends from 12z today to 00z.
