Here in east Austin a bit of glaze on my patio furniture and shrubs. Streets look ok but APD reports some overpasses icy. One vehicle flipped on 183 in NW Austin.

Getting some light freezing rain mixed with light sleet in northeast austin, glaze of ice everywhere. It will be interesting to see what temps do through noon...

Evaporative cooling will have to do its work now on lowering temps as there really isn't any cold air advection. Dew points still in mid 20s so there's room there. 32 at the PWC with some light icing on exposed objects outside. Wondering now if the WSW was overkill.

I have noticied on radar a lot of the approaching returns dissipate before reaching us here so just getting a small amount of drizzle and some is freezing, some is not. Temp is still 32 but dp is now up to 27.

I've not been overly impressed by the amount of evaporative cooling I've seen in the last 1-2 hours. Think this is primarily a Hill Country event with the Austin metro area seeing only minor icing. It's just a little too warm ... just like the last time.

I'd like to see at least a few sleet pellets out of this but haven't even gotten that. Guess I'll go outside and build a Cold Rainman.

At Hudson Bend, my temp has fallen slightly from 32.2 to 31.8 over the last hour. Dew point is hanging around 28. It's interesting that my rain gauge only shows 0.01 has fallen since midnight. I'm sure more than that has fallen, I suspect my rain gauge has frozen.

Good morning to the Storm2K family out in Texas. I see more freezing rain has come about and affected portions of the Hill Country in Texas. So far, it has been the season of ice storms across your region. The STJ and the southwesterly flow aloft keeps overriding these shallow arctic cold domes that infiltrate yor region, and thus the freezing rain.

Of course, you may have heard that back on Thursday, the Jax area had a surprise "ocean effect" snow shower which occured here and it was a very nteresting experience to see that rare phenomenon. So, I guess we had our wintry precip fun for about an hour or so for this season I guess lol.

But, anyway, be safe out there this weekend if you are venturing out and about!

Getting a light rain now which is causing more icing on some surfaces but of course streets and sidewalks are too warm so just water there.

31*F @LHWXC in NW Austin. Wrecks reported earlier on 183N & 620, Lakeline. Ice was a good 1/10th in on my truck. This is not a good winter so far. Wimpy Polar Air. It might as well be Spring if its not gonna snow.

Forecasting winter weather in Texas with great confidence is like solving this.

That 1-2 degrees is making a huge difference in a lot of places in central/south Texas.

Our "ice storm" 8-) , may be over here. Even though temp is still 32 we are getting just rain now and it is melting the ice that was accumulated.

In Heath, its 33.8 with a DP of 17.1 - still really dry. Hopefully by tonight enough saturation of the column occurs and we at least get some liquid gold. That said, I still expect less than 0.25" around my area, and probably most of North Texas north of I-20, east of I-35.

:uarrow:

I had a bit of ice on my gauge very early this morning, but nothing since. Lowest I hit was 31.8, currently at 32.5 and awaiting the next little batch of precip to see if it will take it back down at all.

near Slaughter/Congress

Actually warmed up to 32.9 during the precip. Looks like no ice here!
