Texas Winter 2016-2017

Currently 28 with a windchill of 14. Looks like they have changed the forecast again to a 30% chance of snow tonight and a 60% transitioning to a 30% chance tomorrow.

Ken on KAUZ was talking about a southern shift and Wichita Falls potentially getting a little more than originally thought. Let's hope this is a trend Yukon!

Dallas is pretty lucky to sit where it sits. Not many same latitude cities sees the frequency of snow/ice events we do. We sit near the lat of Montgomery and Macon but winter weather events more like northern Alabama and GA

I don't think it's shifting that much unfortunately. We here in Wichita Falls are right in the boundary for slight accumulations according to our mets and the models. Originally just had a dusting but said may increase to an inch or so. Sorry for being vague with my statement!

I was going to say... I've lived at the same latitude in Alabama and I can remember many many winters where we never saw a flake... so I mean... this is only my 3rd winter here, but I saw more snow in the first winter I was here than many other winters combined there. If this snowstorm does actually happen in AL/GA it'll be the first big one at my parents house in 3 years(since the infamous snowpocalypse in Atlanta)... longer than our streak.

The latest models seem to suggest that Dallas has a low chance of getting more than a dusting tomorrow. San Antonio and Austin could see some light freezing rain and sleet. However it's looking like much of the state (outside of the Panhandle) will not see any frozen precip accumulations from this system.

You can solve this problem by moving to Buffalo, NY. Slamdunk, 100% guarantee you'll see snow. More snow that you would ever want to see.

I have a friend who lives there. It's funny and unnerving to get pics from him with snow halfway up the windows. No thanks.

I've been thinking of moving more north for awhile now but I know I'd get sick of it quick. lol. Plus it's not special up there, you still have to go to work.

I think I just need one good blizzard and I'd be good for a few years. I mean it's been 24 years since the last one I saw here soon...

I hate anything over 80 degrees so a potential move to Montana is in the cards for me. Yes, I grew up in texas too and have lived in Columbus, Ohio.

I don't need a ton of snow... I'd just like to live in a place where there's a guarantee of a good snow each year. Even in Oklahoma I feel like it's better there, and yet it's still a big deal and stops everything lol

But probably the thing I hate more than anything about Texas weather is the endless summers... while I am looking forward to a warmup, the 80s in the winter are just insane, and the 100s in the summer get old... fast... and the fact it can be hot in March or October too

I agree with you both. 80, 85, 90 degree days are fine in the right season. For me it is the humidity. A 50 degree day with humidity makes me feel uncomfortable at times. You can get lower humidity at times with a temp in the lower nineties and it feels fine. But in Big D those days are rare indeed so mid May to mid September are usually miserable. That is why winter is such a refresher, we all know what waits ahead. High pressure in the summer with no wind or rain is disgusting. Let winter be winter. Hard to do this far south though. I would prefer cold over heat and humidity any day.

I feel the same way.

I grew up in South Carolina and that's the thing I miss the most living in Texas now. (Even Arkansas has seasons.)

It's like we were still wearing shorts in November and then here's a little cold and it's over, then you have to wait for the next shot of air to come down, and meanwhile, it's 75 again. I live through the summers here to get to the winter and lately, it's not been worth it.
