Same here. I was supposed to hit 24 overnight Friday and only got to 29. Last night, we were supposed to hit 29-30 and my low was 35. I'm not complaining though - my covered plants did fine with this freeze.

It's difficult to get an icing event when the surface winds are southerly.

DFW (37F) already above the forecast high for the day as of 11:00, so it's heading your way!

I don’t see this freezing rain happening like forecasted when the temp has steadily been rising to 37 now and a south wind.

He's pretty good at explaining things. And I can see the average person gaining a lot from his videos.

But as we see from here as well, you live and die by the models if that's your only backing (model-ology.) Experience, and skill can sometimes beat the models, both warm or cold perspectives.

There's no CAA and you have more WAA in this event. Just like temps tend to bust cold during cold blasts, it also works the other around. Times of change creates problems at the surface for guidance.

There's a system that will cross the southern plains next weekend. Panhandle and maybe western Oklahoma. Outside of there will take a miracle but It's January, got to find cold air. Still thinking mid-February once the MJO reloads. We may see another big cold blast at that time.

At the end of the 12z EPS at the 500 mb height level you can see the ridge beginning to retrograde back into northern canada, -NAO signature starting to show up on guidance, its a precurser of high latitude blocking setting up, thinking after the 11-12th it may get really cold again down here

Already a Glaze of Ice, it was mixing with snow earlier.

Yeah now I remember who he is. My take is similar to Ntxw. I can see why he might have a decent following. People love imagery/graphics when it comes to weather, but more importantly he speaks in layman's terms that most folks can understand it would appear. That's a good thing overall in this field in my opinion.

The problem with that approach to weather though, is things can often change quickly (sometimes minute by minute) and relying on one video a day to account for it all can potentially lead to some wildly different outcomes. Naturally, his credentials are also a factor but to each their own I say. I think as long as the public understands those aspects of it going in, then the onus changes very quickly at that point and you get back to the "trusted sources" messaging. In other words, if one chooses to make that their only weather source of information (hopefully not), then tough to get mad if you end up getting burned by it?

Looks like the freeze line is along I-30 across NE TX with upper 20s near the river. Low to mid 30s a long I-20. WAA should keep us along I-20 ice free though. Held about 34 all afternoon here so wouldn't be shocked to see it drop to 31 before precip starts here but no impacts as the rain will warm us back to 34 I'm sure.
