Yes warm noses are very pesky things to forecast and observe.

Hang on and have faith, my brother. I see you got rid of my Omega Blockhead - that's a step in the right direction. No more cold and bags of rocks for you. I will hold the football myself and your kick will be epic. You'll be making one of these by the time this winter is done.

Latest GFS ENS members extremely aggressive with a Major Winter Storm next weekend across the northwestern half of North Texas...majority ice/sleet due to the shallow nature of this upcoming cold snap. According to this run, 75% chance of some sort of storm, starting to show remarkable similarities

:froze: :cold:

That's a lot of ice near DFW

Highs well down into the 20s next weekend and even beyond after 70s on Friday

Big high to the north with SE ridge spells trouble for someone in the southern plains. Multiple waves of low pressure could form along the pressing front, resulting in severe icing anywhere from northern and eastern Texas up into Arkansas and points farther northeast. This one bears watching. IMO, this has the potential to be a severe ice storm for DFW and surrounding areas.

Edit DFW officially mid 70s Friday and highs around freezing next Saturday

I believe this is freezing rain and sleet, but could be wrong. Still potentially a very nasty storm. I'm hoping for sleet and snow but don't want any of the freezing rain. I don't want to say you guys may want to miss out on this one cause I know yall like the winter weather, but unless the high pushes further south then it would likely be Freezing rain in Texas and right now this storm looks to have the potential to drop 2-3 inches of freezing rain(not sleet, pure freezing rain) somewhere and if that happened in Texas we would think the 2013 ice storm was a joke. There's not really any city in the U.S that could handle that, but it would definitely shut down DFW if it were to happen.

I'm actually interested in that Kansas City Game since it's outdoors. Someone put the Wxbell maps of the 18z GEFS on another forum I'm on(It's where I talk about Ohio weather) There's actually a quite a few major hits for DFW, then there are a couple of members that show this massive blob, it's as if the storm wants to hit every major city in the southern/central plains and midwest, there are two in which the storm hits Dallas, OKC, Kansas City, and pretty much all of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. This is probably my favorite one, even though I'm not in the jackpot those members do what we call "sharing the wealth" in the other forum. Oh I almost forgot to mention, on the ensemble member that's my favorite, it get Porta and Wxman in it to. Now we just need every ensemble member to look like it.

Yeah now that we are moving within a week starting to show some slight concern. Big overrunning event on the GFS

850s are mild, surface near and below freezing, ice

Looks like the 00z GFS is trending towards the Euro. Not sure what I think about this upcoming system, it wouldn't be typical for a Nina but we might be seeing the start of the Nina pattern breakdown.

It's definitely a fickle forecast. It will be very moist though with the storm train. That big arctic high up north has continued to trend more impressive as the window got closer and with the SE ridge in place, it's definitely worth watching.

GFS has some strong winds with it to boot.
