Wait, you get a text? I have an app that allows me to see it tested. You must have the high fallutun generator

Sometimes someone knocks on my door to tell me it's running and there are no issues. You don't have that?

Dan Henry went *OFF* on Facebook about The Weather Channel, and got an overwhelmingly positive response...

DFW airport is now forecasted 5F for a low. Top 10 is 3F or lower all time.

With 305+ guests on this thread right now, it seems like a good time for an invite to join Storm2K!

And to remind that while we do have a good number of professional meteorologists on our forums (they are noted as such), most of us are amateur weather enthusiasts.

So, keep this in mind:

Plotting temps down the central plains...

NWS Bismarck ND -8
NWS Green Bay WI 10
NWS Omaha NE 27
NWS Wichita KS 46
NWS FTW TX 52

The core Temps are single to negative # at the NE SD border with the leading surface cold at Omaha NE.

That put the freezing surface temps into NTX Friday evening 10pm-Midnight range IMO.

Is it possible the hole for the WSW in central Texas is due to a potential ice storm warning?

Idk it’s in the same area where models are struggling with the temperatures.

New probability graphics from NWSFWD have only 1 inch of snow from Sweetwater to Mount Pleasant (so DFW included) and .4 inches of ice across all of north texas (with a little over .5 in east Texas)

Can't post images now but here ya go: https://www.weather.gov/fwd/winter

Total Sleet and snow combined updated now

I’m going to be optimistic here and say that sometimes the UHI runs interference on temperature model. It’s a real thing in the middle of the metroplex but IMHO, the models make a bigger deal out of it than is real. Larger area is modeled for warmth because downtown is really much warmer but its effect is like 10 miles out.

Also want to remind everyone how just two weeks ago we were worried about a shutout winter.

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

I think they're trying to come up with how do we wiggle out of this one because we followed all the guidance and then now we're just going to end up getting rain.

I am trying to decide if I should keep my husband home on Saturday afternoon to watch the Aggies play basketball rather than watch from our seats in Reed Arena.
