We're golden as long as Wxman57 plays the role of Mace Windu and not Luke or Anakin.

As much as I want another BIG chill to set in and a chance of a winter storm before it's all said and done for this winter, it's going to be hell on all the trees that have started budding out.

My thoughts EXACTLY. We have buds on some of the trees here, and purple Lantana flowers -- BLOOMING at work!

Mesquites usually wait to bud until April, so at least those may be safe.

These late (or later in this case) season freezes can be killers!

Austin Mabry got to 85 yesterday, breaking a record of 83 from 1999. I don't recall experiencing a prolonged warm period like this here in
Winter -- EVER. NUTS!

I looked at the normals for this date in Austin just to remind myself of what it is supposed to be like. High 64 Low 43

I think a lot of us (including myself) have been densensitized to these warmer temperatures.

That's it! Think of the trees/plants! You don't want any nasty cold and/or snow coming down and hurting them. Plants love warmth. I'll find a way to stop the cold from moving south into Texas.

Pfft the plants will be fine. It's not like they haven't experienced hard freezes in March and April before after warmth. They always come back full force in May either way!

Word is PWC is getting shipment of snow making machines imported from New England ski resorts. When the cold comes, Portastorm will give it a 'boost' to Houston!

What a great winter weather pattern coming up for the Southern US!! Models are in decent agreement that starting around the 12th, storm systems should move through the southern plains to the east coast every 3-4 days lasting at least through the 24th of Feb and maybe beyond. With plenty of cold air available, there could be quite a bit of winter weather as well on the northern and western sides of these systems. Even if you don't get in on the winter weather aspect, everyone will be grateful for the drought relief!! :)

You realize the more you taunt Wxman57, the more he will move the Earth closer to the sun. The more he does that, our Summers will be unbearable and I will go insane. I just want you all to know this as you taunt him. LOL

Luckily the sun is not cooperating with him! We are at the supposed peak of the current solar cycle and the sun is as dim as ever for such an event. Has not budged much since the minimum in 2008-2009! It's going back down to being even dimmer as we move into the next minimum later this year into the next few.

Actually mentioned that to the wifey this morning, to which she replied, "Where, New York City?" Nice jabbing she has at me. We were there the last week of September. No offense to New Yorkers, but your town is WAY too quick for me. LOL

GFS got wetter again for the storm mid this week. Of course it's north of the Euro and dumps oodles of snow for southern Oklahoma. Lately it's been seeing the little system off Baja to aid. What a pms model

Seattle?

Advantages...
Moist climate....good for your wife's skin
Lovely moisture loving plants
Ocean and Mountains nearby
You'd get a cool shower whilst running (and probably some snow as well).

Disadvantages...
only one (but its a big one).

I really truly can't believe someone who has running as a hobby lives where you do.

Yeah, I know. I know. Freakin' furnace in the summer. Actually, she used to live in Seattle and hated it, so no there. I do like the trends on the models. Maybe, just maybe we might see Winter come back in Houston.

What a crazy idea! It's probably the most southern track at 5h for the GFS recently

I want lots of snow, too - up in New England where it belongs. 12Z GFS has snow dangerously close to north Texas next Tue/Wed.

I am such a weather nerd. I am watching a live Boston blizzard camera. No shame, I love it.!!!!!! On a side note, Steve McCauley (WFAA Dallas) mentioned on his FB page that the POSSIBILITY of some flakes flying are increasing here in North Texas next week. Keep your fingers crossed.
