What's odd about the Fort Worth discussion is that they mention precip lingering into the afternoon. I can't find one model depicting this scenario and some of them even shut it down entirely by 6 am. Strange!!!

GFS has precip lingering through 18z Tuesday.

Ukmet and Canadian show precip ending by around sunrise on Tuesday. But the deeper/slower solution than what the current models have been depicting, up to this point, makes sense.

Local NBC (channel 5) station here in Dallas just gave their forecast for Tuesday:

5am - 9am...rain/sleet mix
9am - noon...freezing rain/sleet
noon - 6pm...snow possible

Sounds like they are expecting the precip to possibly last well in to the day.

Local NBC (channel 5) station here in Dallas just gave their forecast for Tuesday:

5am - 9am...rain/sleet mix
9am - noon...freezing rain/sleet
noon - 6pm...snow possible

Sounds like they are expecting the precip to possibly last well in to the day.

The cold front is already pushing south into Texas. It's just north of the D-FW metroplex now. Question is - will it just not move for the next 2 days as it waits for reinforcements? There are some pretty good northerly winds in the cold air.

So what complications in the forecast would arise if the cold air just decided to enter the area today? Would that change the trajectory of the low pressure system?

Meanwhile, I hope for you Metroplexers that you don't have one of those situations tomorrow where everyone makes it to work and school and then a few hours later you have to do the "Everyone Go Home" drill at the same time. That's almost always a recipe for disaster.

I'm going to make my own decision Tuesday morning about the kids going to school, regardless of what the school district does. I've only done the "Everyone Go Home" drill once, and vowed never again!

Brandon, I mentioned yesterday (and still contend) that I think you and your fellow North Texans have a good shot at some wintry precip, including some snow. My feeling right now is that very cold air will sink deeper into the western half of the state as it always does. I'm "on board" in that sense. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see some watches posted for your area.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, Wichita Falls and Abilene already in the 30s. Forecasted to rebound on Monday by NWS???
