Y'all are letting the heat miser get to your heads too easily . You only have 90 or so days left before it gets hot and boring all the time and he turns the dial to max, so enjoy it. Summers after La Nina winters are often brutal (2011 for example). There is some qpf showing up near and west of San Angelo. May see some flurries or sleet this evening near the Hill Country.

Hadn't seen this video before, but it's perfect. That's me & Portastorm! Best part starts around 2:00 into the video. I agree with everything the Heat Miser says.

Ha, ha! Indeed sir. You and I have been at it for a decade or more.

I'm fond of the first half of the clip though.

I thought you might like the first half of the video better. Love the part when the Heat Miser says he hates temps below 60 and would rather see 70, 80, 90, or 101. That's me!

Now I have that song stuck in my head. What happened to your snow miser avatar, Portastorm?

But in the end the snow miser technically wins with it snowing in south town...

We've been lucky since 2013. All of the summers have featured at least one month of decent rain and periodical unusual cool spells, June, July, or August in those years. We're overdue for a scorching one. Official 100+ days have been subdued as well, the bad about them is they've extended well into the fall with 90+ temps.

I got an email from the Lodge we stay at in Telluride, CO. You want to see snow, it's a short 16 hour drive away:

The snow just keeps on coming. Telluride has already hit the 200" snowmark for the season and with February around the corner, there is no end in sight. Telluride Ski Resort's base is now over 65 inches. With more snow in the forecast, conditions are expected to remain top notch. Now is the time to book your ski vacation at the Mountain Lodge.

It is getting harder and harder to deny this current MJO propagation and that probably puts a nail in N. Texas February cold. There will likely still be a shot of cold between the 7 - 10th but ultimately the warmth will rule. We needed the MJO to fizzle and for non MJO convection to linger over portions of the IO. The current MJO looks to kick off the process of extending the Pacific jet and all the joys that go along with it.

On the bright side, this possibly signals the end of la nina and more MJO action to follow. If the +PDO and +QBO continue then Texas might see an exciting spring and then avoid the typical la nina summer hangover.

A bit more on the end of nina. Also, this progression would seem to favor an active system between Feb 4 - 6th and then the "cold" shot.

Love that place, one of the best ski resorts on the planet....there are still plenty of shortwaves cutting through the mean western ridge, should be plenty of good quality snow up there

Heck, that IS winter! By the way, the Houston/Galveston hurricane workshop is set for Saturday June 3rd at GRB. We should get a group together for lunch across the street again.

Let me know if y'all end up doing that. I'm not sure I could make the workshop but I would do my level best to get over there and break bread with my SE Texas compadres.
