Wow the forecast for Tulsa looks crazy. 25mph winds with 7-11 inches of snow. Do yall think the NWS might put up a Blizzard Watch or Warning for that area sometime soon?

Cold air sinks to the surface, warm air rises. When you have such a bitterly cold airmass models struggle to grasp the movment because the movement of the cold air is dictated by many dynamics the models would have to be multi demisional faster than time in order to predict the movement of an airmass so cold and dense to the accuracy thats needed with such a potentially dangerous storm

:?: Question....I am in the Beaumont area and local mets are forecasting our lowest low to be about 24-25 later this week. Is there still a possibility that this system is colder than we are assuming? Should us in SETX prepare for the worse also?JC, Thanks!

I have a question for the pro/amatuer mets. Many years ago, we had a decent ice storm. The temps were well below freezing for several days after; however, because of the strong north winds, the ice "evaporated", or something like that. There was an official lingo the weathermen quoted, but I can't remember what it was called. Is there a term for it, and do you think we are at risk of that happening with this system....providing we get ice/snow?

I believe that's correct. In this case I think the quantity of liquid/frozen precip is a lot greater than when that typically happens, but the cold/wind is a lot greater too. Usually that phenomenon helps dry out the back side of a storm but maybe one of the pros can help clarify...

Local News at Shreveport:

I hate how Tuesday shows 55/60 for low and high. Why don't they show that it's going to be in the 30s by evening? This will catch people offguard.

With the possibility of heavy snow in ok and the midwest, temperatures may be much colder than expected through out the state of TX for most of the week. Same scenario back in '83.
