Interesting to note, others (including NWS SHV) had mentioned that if we have more of a NWerly component to the wind, it would negate some of the cold air blocking effect from the Ouachita mountains.

The front has recently moved through Longview, TX where we are 62F with a 3 mph NW wind. Mt. Pleasant, TX reports 43F with a 13 mph NW wind. Paris, TX reports 37F with a 16 mph NW wind.

Will the NW wind bring colder temperatures sooner to portions of East Texas, including Longview? We will see... most other NTX and OK stations are reporting N wind with more of a NNE component.

A corridor of heavy
snow is likely across NE OK into far NW AR with gusty winds
combining to produce near blizzard conditions overnight

That warm nose in Dallas looks like it only maxes out at about 3C after surface temps have fallen below freezing. Makes me think this would be more of a sleet/freezing rain mix than just freezing rain, if I’m reading that right

Both GEFS and EPS have a good cold signal v-day week. That's a chilly North American continent.

Rainfall record at DFW for Feb 2nd is only 0.51" (1943). Might be able to make a run at that one this evening.

Snowfall record for 2/2 is 1.5" (1996)
Snowfall record for 2/3 is 0.2" (2011) - should be able to knock that one out on sleet alone

Snowing big time here now. I'm thinking we definitely end up at the top end or over the NWS forecast (7 inches)

Just dropped to 32 degrees here in Weatherford. Rain coming down at a pretty good rate. Will definitely get ugly if the switch over to sleet/snow does not happen for hours...

Fear not. The secondary push is barreling in from the panhandle.
