75 hazy degrees in Salem, Oregon but the clouds are definitely coming in from the South. Looks like the shower-predictors might be right after all. I never would have believed it an hour ago. I think we would have easily hit 80 without them, but now the wind is picking up. Still an almost picture perfect spring day.
What's with Alaska? They're supposed to be waaaaay above average the next 7-14. Hope that doesn't preclude another hot summer for us.

My outdoor thermometer hit an impressive 81F...but it's in direct sunlight...so I'll subject 5F from that temperature. 76F at the end of April...pretty impressive. No record temperatures, but pretty darn close.
As for this weekend, I'm sticking with my assumptions...I think the majority of Western Washington will stay mostly sunny and warm. Tomorrow could be identical to today...maybe a little cooler and a few more high/middle level clouds. Sunday will be cooler, but I still don't think we'll see any moisture. As for the chance of showers/thunderstorms...I think most will stay confined to California and Oregon.
And next week is shaping up to be awesome...a little cooler than today, but mostly sunny!!
Summer has almost arrived!!

Now this is warm! We have 77 in Covington with a dew point of 36! That dew point presents the possiblility of some very intense thunderstorms tomorrow. That is the recipe that creates such sever weather in the mid section of the country...moist southerly flow meeting very dry air. Today already saw some thunderstorm activity in SW WA, so I am very confident about tomorrow.
I think that Andy did a very fine job of predicting those storms in SW WA!
TT...Remember your bet yesterday was about Sunday not today. I do give you kudos for prediciting it would get so warm during this episode, but you will be wrong about the duration! I clearly remember you said it would be sunny and warm for the remainder of the month after Wednesday of this week! Of course, you have backed off of that, but I was correct in saying your initial claim would be incorrect. I am only pointing this out to remind you that we have both made mistakes. We are only human.
In summary, I am disappointed about today messing up my very low month to date average, but I am beyond intrigued over the wild variability of the temps this year! Now a little prediction. I have found that when very warm temps come so suddenly (that is with little build up), after a very cool period; that is normally an indication that another cool period is coming. I am quite confident that we will see temps 5 - 8 degress below normal by early May, if not sooner. The roller coaster continues.

One of my quotes from 8 days ago.
So... originally I predicted touching 80 degrees on Sunday. You are getting picky. Everyone thought I was nuts (at least Snow_Wizzard) when I said it could get that warm particularly when it was still rainy and cool (after 30 days of cool weather) and another storm was approaching.
Come on... if you listen to me you will get the basic idea on the upcoming weather.
And yes... we will be cool again by early May.
