It's much like snow except much crunchier, especially when there's lots of it. From a distance looks just like snow lol. Much worse on the roads.

Could be like 2003 but with more sleet. It was below freezing for a day or two after that storm. So this might be 2003 sleet storm upgraded.

What can you do with Sleet? Can you build a sleet man? Is it hard to drive on? I can't remember the last time I was in a bad sleet storm so I am not sure what to expect.

With sub freezing temps and 2-3"+ Sleet accum on roadways, they are gonna be nearly impassible.

Temperature has dropped from 42° to 36° here (Weatherford) in past hour. But it is still only rain. No hail or sleet yet.

You can skate on it, sled on it, make maple candy with it, throw it in a blender with some juice and make a slushie, and take time to look at it and appreciate the beauty it give us. There's a few ideas.

It's nearly freezing here and the dang radar is keeping the area just east of the heavy precip. I also see a few tornado vortex symbols on one radar lol

Wow, 4" is A LOT of sleet. Agree with previous post about roads. Much worse than snow.

That much sleet will shut DFW down for a couple of days if not more. The football/weather gods are not smiling on Jerry. It also doesn't blow off the roads like snow. Basically frozen glue after a hard freeze.

Well, the winds have definitely picked up some here. Getting some light rain too. I suspect the temp is on it's way down. Sitting at around 40 right now.

He better hope it's snow. That much sleet, doesn't matter how much de-icing you put down, tough to get rid of in the 20s. You're right DFW will get shut down for a few days if that's the case.

Very solid, impressive line from sw of San Angelo to a Abilene- Mineral Wells line (of course into the falls and OKC) with heavy rain on the eastern side and steady sleet and freezing rain on the west side filling in quick.

Abilene officially below freezing. And denton down to 38 so cold front it screaming into the nw sides of metro, though the freezing line still out west roughly from a Abilene to Graham-Bowie line. But temps nearly freezing from a Mineral Wells to Decatur to Gainesville line atm! Stay tuned.. (And Awake :) )
