Here is ICON through 40 hours. 6-8” across all of south Louisiana and 3-5” for the rest of the Gulf Coast to about Panama City.

RDPS is similar to Icon but with a heavy band at the TX/LA border

This will be a record breaking event for the Pensacola area. Starting to be curious on how the electrical grid will handle this much snow forcasted. Major impacts for the Gulfcoast area.

Agreed. It feels like the day before a hurricane except it’s cold. There’s nothing you can do about it but wait with anticipation. I plan on watching NBA all day and do some housework. I wanted to get lunch at east hill wine bar but I have enough food at home to get me through Thursday (plus plenty more in the freezer). Think I’m going to go in the office tomorrow am since it’s right around the corner. But I’m going to blow out once the sleet and snow start and work from home tomorrow and Wednesday.

Living in the south, don't really have a snow gauge lol But I have a thin diameter pipe. I found the most level area out from under trees out in the open and put it about 4 inches into the ground. Put a thin strip of bright blue roofers tape in 2 inch increments up to 8 inches...should I put another strip for 10 inches? lmao! I can't even believe I'm asking that question. PS i know its not going to be accurate by any means, so dont rain on my parade :cold:

Friends and family around the area doing it just to compare with each other generally.

It’s a higher res Canadian product. We about to find out. There isn’t a model precedent for this type of system. And where the snow bands set up is more micro physics that are probably too local for most of the models to catch exactly. RDPS is run at a 10km resolution and I think looks at about 30 levels of the atmosphere.

I took today and tomorrow off for appointments but got the call my appointments are canceled for tomorrow. Probably won't be working on Wednesday due to roads will be impassable for sure on Wednesday. This is a once in a lifetime event for our area and glad my granddaughters will be here with us to see the snow. Anticipation for total snow amounts will be amazing!

That’s awesome. I figured I would drop a ruler down tomorrow. You’re about 8-10 miles east as the crow flies so I’m curious as to whether there is any lift off the Bay since you’re on the other side. It won’t be lake effect, and it’s pretty shallow that far up but it’s still a couple miles wide. So maybe?

UKMET has a narrower snowband compared to the other models and somewhat less snowfall. Seems like a bit of an outlier with the right general idea.

Hopefully this is not right. Doesn’t go at all with what the other models have been seeing. It’s better than nothing but it’s just a few miles away from me getting nothing at the same time.

Has the low formed yet? I think we’ll get more of a consensus on accumulations with the models once the low is established
