I wish I could send the snow (and after looking at that video  I'm guessing the majority of peeps down there just have well worn summer tires ). I'd send our ice tires if I could.

Stay off the roads and enjoy your Texas chili with a sleet slushie ... you definitely don't have winter ready vehicles down there.

Jarodm12 wrote:if im reading the map correctly .75 is very little snow could you explain further?

No, the area in shades of Pink are ice/sleet accumulations. They do NOT include any snow accumulations in that area.
The reason for this; most of our clients are far more concerned with ice than snow.

You can easily add the snowfall totals on top of the ice accumulation areas. At any rate the snowfall totals should be smaller in the areas where the "pinks" ice is on the map.

Again, this is our "first guess" mapping and we are currently crunching Rapid Update WRF and RUC data to better define the areas of accumulations and amounts over the next 12 hours.

Chains are illegal here too (the Mountains and Northern Canada are about the only places I know here where one can use them) and the ice tires work only if everyone else has similar tires (you won't hit anyone but those without will still hit you :grr: ). Canadians in Vancouver, British Columbia and Toronto, Ontario drive the same as those peeps in the video.

Even new all season tires are better than nothing but everyone has to be using them.

Talk about a dynamic system!

Here is the snow (probably not sleet included) from the GFS

yep very true,

problem is at least in the Dallas area, people cant drive in rain much less snow....( some of us can lol but not many) It really doesn't seem there are very many GOOD drivers anymore anywhere...

its not unusual to be on the freeway here, its pouring down rain so hard that you cant see 300 ft in front of you and someone flies by doing 80....

Should I buy into the cmc's heavy snow for us? And could you please let me know how much the new euro run shows for my area tonight? :)

Yep we see that here too but we are underpopulated and (most of the time) the idiots that drive like our roads were in perfect summer condition usually just take themselves off the highway. The larger Canadian centers mentioned above though rarely see winter conditions so many there also don't have winter tires (and without them, on those icy roads, even experienced drivers will have their moments).

Do you think the line of storms will make it to San Antonio?

I would say there is an excellent chance.. they will make it to San Antonio. A small chance they move just to the north. This looks more like a fall type line of Thunderstorms instead of a late winter one. Amazing..

Wow, all this rain, with sleet and snow on top. My gosh I might just be able to ice skate around town at some point this week. This is really going to be a mess.

Does sleet cause power lines to fall? Reason I am asking is I manage a few servers at work and have to contend with power outages. Fun times ahead.
