The super heavy precip seems to be cooling the column quite a bit. Not seeing a lot of sleet reports even though radar shows it, snow yes.

If snowfall/sleet can really crank here in N. Texas, this Arctic blast will be reminiscent of the 1899 front/storm.
Our lifetime's version perhaps?

Just thinking this is getting real and quick and there is nothing we can do about it.

Probably. With the temps foretasted, it's not going anywhere until the weekend.
Well as long as the power and internet stay on I am good. It could get really boring around here. So glad I found this site. I am good on food and such. Hmmmmmm just looked out my window, the little 24 hour mart is closed. They must know something, THAT NEVER HAPPENS!!!!

IMO, the sleet/snow is not immenent (sp?) in Fort Worth. I'm 30 miles west of FW and 400 feet higher in elevation. Still only rain here (31 degrees). In fact, it is not even raining now. I'm going to bed and will check back early in the morning. Good night!

I think so. I can't find any sleet reports. Breckenridge = snow, abilene = snow, decatur = snow, gainesville = snow. Dynamic cooling is effecting it. Get under heavy precip = snow.

I ate dinner and am behind..back on pg 249
but I wanna say my un-educated snow prediction for my area (DFW Airport 183/360) is 1.5" of snow.
I hope I get burned and it's doubled but I'm not gonna be greedy/..
It's getting close!!!

That is a ton of precip in Texas. I don't see how we escape this with only an inch or two of sleet and or snow.

Hello from Wise County! I am located southwest of Decatur in Paradise, and we're sitting at 32.2 degrees with some sort of precipitation hitting the window. Don't know if its sleet or snow, but the wind is whipping up here and it is brutal to walk outside to see whats falling.

I am not a meteorologist, have just had an interest in weather since I was a kid.

Just a bit over 0.10 qpf for Houston IAH. 0.06 for sure would be snow the rest is pretty close. CLL 0.09 of snow. I see nothing for SA.

I'm a little late, but we are in February now. Will the Groundhog see his shadow?

Just thinking the same thing.
Plus, lots of convective activity and training occurring.
Some folks in Texas and Oklahoma are going to get hammered. I'd say somebody in Oklahoma gets 20+ and somebody in North Texas gets 10+.
And put all that snow/sleet on the ground and there are going to be some low single digit, maybe even sub-zero readings this week in N. Texas.

Probably not. Our storm will cover up the sun there. It's questionable these days with all of the camera lights he might.

K thanks. So that is equivalent to about 1 inch of snow here in College Station, right?

I may have missed something. So has anything changed? We are getting snow in Dallas, TX or is the precipitation going to move out to fast?
I'm wondering if I will have to go to work tomorrow given the icy conditions.

Been seeing thundersleet outside my apartment in Northeast Abilene for the last 2+ hours and had pretty heavy rain and some small hail in the 5 hours before that. I know the reports say snow, but its been almost all sleet in my corner of the city.
