In Ponder we had some sleet mixing in with the rain, but were in a dry/light spot atm. Will be curious what the precipitation type is when the heavier stuff out west makes it here.

Also looks like NWS bumped our area up to 1-2" of sleet/snow tonight and another 1-3" sleet/snow tomorrow.

Ding Dong Daddy's?

Anyway, that potential .1 inch per hour rate of freezing rain for the DFW area is...not good for powerlines.

Sleet/Ice pellets now in FW

Also, need to reiterate again the GFS was absolutely nails on this system from several days out…pinned down the frz transition almost to the hour in DFW

43F measured by my wx station here in Longview. Seems so close, yet it's so far...

Meanwhile, rain has also arrived.

Just had a burst of sleet a few minutes ago here in Keller. Back to mixed freezing rain and ice pellets now, hopefully good sign of pending transition to sleet. Trees have a good glaze of ice on them now with icycles forming. :cold:

We’ve had a mix of sleet and freezing rain in Denison. Enough sleet that there is a good white coating on the cars and grass. But enough freezing rain that the trees are building ice fast.

Any idea when the Laughlin AFB radar is supposed to come back on?

Live oaks, magnolias, and cherry laurels all starting to sag.

North Dallas near NorthPark Center. All of these made it through ice storms in 1998 and 2013 plus the big snow in 2010, so I know they can withstand several more hours of this.

Hopefully it won’t come to that.

Here in SE Tarrant (Mansfield/Kennedale) temps actually went up a degree (33 currently) once some of the heavier showers moved in, and even though the radar shows a mix of rain/FR it is still just a cold rain.

From eye candy standpoint ZR has got to be the most boring (though dangerous) kind of winter precip mode to look at.

Last I heard was on Saturday that parts were being order and it is down until further notice. Unfortunate timing for sure.
