Down to 28 IMBY. May make a run at 25-26, which means DFW may hit 27-28.

With the onset of hi-rez models NWS FTW will issue WSW with the 7am update package over the same area and probably further east and south.

Precipitation wise I bet you could basically draw a line straight through the middle of DFW and everything N and W see higher amounts of sleet mixing withe frz rain, while E and S more frz rain than sleet.

The problematic issue will be amounts under a very large precipitation shield. We all know there will be areas dotted through NTX that are going to get higher amounts while other areas see less, but everyone will see something.

Temperature wise I'm with the same mind set of DFW area not getting above 32 tomorrow in the center of the heat islands, while outline areas drop into upper 20s through Thursday morning. After that things will start to warm up fairly quickly headed into the weekend.

Let's see how this round plays out, before the next one late next week.

Like I posted earlier, once you start collecting frz rain and sleet on the surfaces it creates that barrier between the warmer surface and air above it and then it's game on.

Starting to exit the use of hi-res models as we enter nowcasting territory, but the newest trends in the HRRR seem to be pushing for a broader swath of precipitation with less isolated totals (closer to .1 for central TX and around .25 for DFW) for tomorrow. I’d still prepare like it would be the greater solution as I wouldn’t bother chancing those amounts by this point, but it’s good that it’s not increasing totals as we get closer. Hoping everyone in TX stays safe these next couple days and lend a helping hand if possible to those who don’t have the same resources to prepare.

Wichita Falls is still under a Winter Storm Watch but shouldn't it be more of a WWA? I haven't really seen any of the models show anything significant enough to justify the WSW.

The I-35 corridor as of now looks like the epicenter due to higher qpf intersecting with the favorable cold air. DFW and Austin are typically right on the edge of freezing but this time a little deeper in and east tx to college station and SA is the borderline. Duration is going to be lengthy for your typical event for both major metro areas.

For WF the main show will be Weds when higher qpf arrives.

Here it comes from the Pacific. Slow moving ULL system and highway where moisture will fetch across the same areas over and over.

Many in East Texas went to bed seeing a forecast of 40 and rain all week and wake to a multi day winter storm warning.

School districts are being reactionary this morning, but it’s a tough situation for them. I see Iceresistance said his school went virtual; I don’t think many, if any, DFW ISDs have that option. I know Rockwall ISD doesn’t. My wife teaches 2 miles away so I’m not concerned about it, but a part of Rowlett is in Rockwall county and students attending middle school and high school have to cross the Hwy 66 bridge or I30 bridge. I’m thinking early dismissal today so they at least get credit for the school day.
