TX DOT traffic cams in western Tarrant and eastern Parker Co showing lots of sleet piling up on the surface streets. I-30 west of Aledo looks pretty well covered at this point.

Watching Reed Timmer live right now in Fort Worth. He just mentioned that these are actually "supercell storms" that are popping up. Pretty crazy.

Seems like pure sleet where I am. Reed drove by my exit about 30 minutes ago.

Roofs and ground have accumulated sleet already. Wow.

Edit to add that this will definitely cool ground temps if not already. Never seen sleet this heavy.

Coverage will only be on the increase across North Texas. Next several hours waves of convection will continue to come in from the south and west, likely more scenes like in W-Fort Worth across the metroplex.

Tomorrow is a more uniform qpf shield, narrow but fairly steady like you typically see in winter storms. Today is thunderstorms above really cold surface air. Just think of it like a heavy small hail storm if you get under one that doesn't melt.

Something that does not happen very often in terms of the rate, I remembered Thundersleet Last Year at my location.

Definitely overperforming here. Tulsa issued a warning and we just had an advisory at first. I've never seen sleet like this either it's literally just coming down in waves like a tropical rain would

I haven't seen Sleet coming down like miniature hailstones in sheets in a while either.

Very very light glaze of freezing drizzle here in Bowie. The heavier bands seemed to have gone clear around us.

A dry spell for now. Will see if radar fills in to the SW again. Probably. But, that was intense. Streets covered and decent covering on grass. Not melting.

Another inch or two of sleet and it at least looks white. Lol.
