More snow in south central Texas today! This time it was in Llano County where multiple reports (and video) showed a burst of snow for about 15 minutes. Apparently it occurred around 3 pm or so.

I was looking at the radar when the precipitation band moved through the Llano area. The radar looked like it was all rain when it came through there(?). Nice to confirm it was snow with the video reports. I guess we've had our snow, but I want more.

I'm trying to get some in the DFW area, but it's not easy. I figure you're taken care of for the winter, but they need more than a dusting that quickly melts. I'm not seeing anything with next week's front. Too dry for more than another flurry or two. I'm thinking the first week or two of February will bring a more significant event for NE TX.

I'll try to stay out of your way, sir. Yes, our friends in North Texas are snow-starved. They need a nice winter weather event. Do what you can. You came through for me!

Also has anyone actually seen report of sleet with this, mPING shows all reports to be snow. I'm interested to see if the warm nose is actually enough above freezing to melt the flakes. Model sounding I have seen show just a brief rise to 33-34 degrees if that.

Earlier this afternoon there were sleet reports out in Comanche and Young but most everything here lately has been snow.

The precip shield appears to be falling apart, just as our operational models have been showing the past few days. Wish they were wrong but they are extremely tough to forecast against

WB app says 75 degrees (I know, not reliable at all) next Saturday. If that happens I may finally move from Texas.

Yep, areas just south of Tyler received an inch of rain this afternoon which goes to show how much moisture the lead batch has stolen from the potential for this band. The WRF-ARW2 shows this nicely, it regenerates the band east of DFW. This model has performed great today so far.

Changes in radar presentation probably have more to do with the amount of sleet decreasing than actual changes in intensity. The northern portion that will move into Denton and then Collin actually looks pretty healthy, if that is all snow.

Well damn, it does appear North Texas might have to wait a few weeks to maybe see a snowstorm. The thirst for snow is too much for me to handle without witnessing it. Call it winter heroin withdrawals. Holy crap I need to see a snowstorm. Possum Kingdom anyone?

Based on radar and mPing it looks like snow/flurries should be moving into northern Ft. Worth pretty soon.

This beautiful cold I would not call wasted. Mother Nature just does not want to cooperate with all the MANY ingredients needed for snow for DFW and Texas in general. Cold always wins against summer heat.
