Air is awfully dry, wonder if it’s making it to the ground?

Recon is doing a mission right now in the Gulf to be ingested into the 00Z models. Another flight is scheduled for tomorrow morning to be used with the 12Z models. Image

Hurricane hunters are currently flying the Gulf! They are sampling the atmosphere. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=11 ... 4349654429

Hey Frank.

Hey Steve how ya been? Love tracking winter weather as it is a no stress event. Tracked the recent Nashville snow event a couple of weeks ago and saw a solid 3.5 inches of wet heavy snow in Brentwood TN. Made a 7.5 foot snowman and even an igloo. It was a blast!

Good. Ready for the next couple days. I talked to my kids and recommended they and the dogs head over to their mom’s because none of them have a generator (apartment dwellers). She’s got that and a couple space heaters if necessary. I’m planning on working at work in the morning since it doesn’t look like Pensacola will get hit until around noon or so. But first sign of sleet or flakes and I’m driving the 3 blocks back to my house to ride it out. Hopping for no power loss because I don’t have a generator either but condo is second floor. Booze, cigs, food, etc all on hand. Cheers to hopefully a lifetime experience for all us down near the gulf without any major issues.

Good luck Steve, ( and everyone else) I have the same provisions as you do lol. I'm going to ride it out at home. Hoping for no power loss as well, if it happens, huge fireplace available right up the road with plenty of firewood. Going to be a fun day, excited for my grandkids and for myself as well, as 3 inches is about the most I've seen in my lifetime.

I just downloaded this mPing app and not too familiar with it, but it looks like there are reports of snow (probably flurries) already in SE LA. Lots in TX. On radar, looks like a solid band is already setting up just north of Houston.

Finished my supply run! Got a fire going and more in case the power goes out. I live off one of Tallahassee’s Canopy Roads. They are gorgeous until a storm comes. Then you wish they would underground the powerlines already! lol

1/20 model runs put the eastern parts of GA/SC/NC back in play for snow. Let's see if the new 00z runs continue this.

We’ll get RDPS then ICON I think next of the easily findable models. Everything is pointing to a 3-6”+ locally more from SELA to where it comes up. So I think we’re all good. Even if y’all don’t get it like 2008 you should still get some decent totals up your way.

People in central and east NC could be in for a surprise tomorrow. NWS doesn't have a winter storm advisory in effect yet for most of NC.

Recon data might change everything, but at this point I don't think so.

It could adjust some of NWS forecasts but it seems like it’s already doing more in Texas than people were thinking. So unless they can get some measurements that keep the low way south, we are good.
