NAM shifted it to just north of New Orleans/southern MS. No snow for southern Texas.

Be careful. The run is not complete.

Lol it's one run man! Calm down. Plus it's still showing snow for east and south east texas. Don't jump.

I know how they feel. I freaked last night and look what happened for me.

NAM doesn't actually look bad. Probably more widespread than 18z but just not as much in any one spot.

Haha sorry I was just expecting something really good out of the nam tonight...oh well. I just really hope my family back in SA gets to see at least a dusting from this system.

Here's the max snowcover from the 0z NAM. Keep in mind this model has struggled lately.

Didn't the nam handle yesterdays storm pretty poorly? I think I actually trust the cmc more than the nam for this system because the cmc has been very consistent the past few days.

Deweyville schools delayed start Wed-Friday

DEWEYVILLE - Deweyville schools will begin one hour later on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

All buses will run one hour later.

My guess is so the kids won't have to wait during the coldest period of the day especially with wind chills.

Could also be that they expect it to take extra time to get the schools warmed up. I don't know Deweyville, but if it is like most places, the school buildings are likely out-of-date from an HVAC perspective.

We had a pretty good flurry of snow between 5-6 pm . . . . it put a new dusting of snow at my place. Sky has now cleared. Temp is 10°.

Ya. I'm curious what the GFS will say. The NAM doesn't look bad; it just doesn't look great. But I think the trends are good though. Still precip going over cold air somewhere.

downsouthman,

are you feeling better about your snow chances right now with this system compared to yesterday at this time?

Most definitely better than yesterday. I still think the models are underdoing the over-running moisture. I believe that the ULL will be powerful enough, in conjunction with a developing low at the base of the trough in northern Mexico to provide enough lift for widespread snow in TX.

So you think the eastern 2/3 of Texas will receive at least some snow?

I live I-20 East Texas and it's showing 30% snow for Thursday Night through Friday, with 20% chance on Friday night. Really hope to see some snow because we we haven't got a dusting yet. :sun:

For what it's worth, I believe that SE Texas will get more snow than the 00z NAM is showing. I don't live there, so I'm giving an unbiased opinion. :D

Seriously, though, from what I've read and by looking at several model runs, SE Texas should see snow of some sort. I hope none of you are banking on 4"+...Models aren't really showing much more than that over Texas, but in MY opinion, I think NWS Houston has the right idea for you guys... More snow than the models believe, but try not to get your hopes up too high! I'm very experienced with the feeling of snow-letdown. It's not a good feeling. Here's to hoping you guys get at least some snow! As they say, beggars can't be choosey and we Southerners are very much beggars when it comes to the S word!

I believe the precipitation will occur starting around Del Rio/Laredo early Thursday, like before 18Z & spread NE from there, affecting points east of San Angelo & south of south of Abilene. SA, Austin, Waco & points east will be affected from there & that's all I want to say because I've already gone too far out on a limb, as far as I'm concerned.
