You're right Dustin, you can't beat that. I went to Colorado a couple of months ago and saw plenty of snow, but nothing beats snow at home. Here's an early happy birthday to you we all hope you get your wish 8-) Ntxw, I've meant to post a number of times, but lost my password, lol. With an event this big coming up, I went to the extra trouble to go find it, I think alot of us observers are talking a little with this storm coming.

i would almost bank on this to be i-20, points north... could see some heavy precip amts all the way from gainesville
to waco HOWEVER i would firmly expect most of the heavy amounts of snow to be right along or near
I-20 near the metroplex region on thursday... this is still subject to change but i expect a further northward track...

Amen to that!

Wxman57 and a host of others have really helped educate me about winter weather in Texas. This is a great, great forum.

And if you think it's great during winter weather, you ought to see it during spring severe storm season and if we've got a hurricane brewing somewhere (especially if it is approaching the U.S. coast).

Just a few more months and we'll be wobble watching! :D

I'll let others more qualified to opine do so, but...while this isn't an official forecast of any kind, I don't believe the drizzle is going to last too deep into the night.

And the stiff north wind should dry up any moisuture/ice that gets laid down on the surface tonight.

Vbhoutex, lol, glad I could brighten your day up! Just three and a half months till wobble watching season is upon us...

Meanwhile, it's still winter storm watching season.

Personally, I hope that this winter goes out with a bang for many Texans. If it is going to be this cold and wet, there might as well be something historical for us to talk about and remember in the years to come...

Saw this little Texas' winter weather tidbit in the Foxnews.com weather almanac earlier today...

"1933: The record low temperature for the state of Texas was set at Seminole when the mercury dropped to 23 degrees below zero." :cold:

Stronger as in the same track but just a larger, more widespread system?

Well this isn't good..

The 00z NAM is now showing strong warm air advection at the surface and brings the surface temperature in Dallas up to around 5 to 6C (41 to 43F) by 3pm on Thursday. That is not something you would want to see for snow to make it to the ground and stick.

Timing and track, needs to come together just right. 0z NAM has a stronger more compact system going further south. There's more precip in southern Texas but not cold enough there for winter weather. Lets see what the GFS says.

Ok I am confused...... What is going on? Why would the NWS and the long range forecasters get onboard with this stuff and now the computer models have taken it all away? Is there something that they as humans know that the computer is not picking up on. What happened?
