In Ponder we have transitioned back to more sleet than freezing rain. The roads are starting to turn white again after a few hours of freezing rain and some melting that we’re making them look more clear.

The real stuff is starting Oncor sending me to Austin. Just had to stop south of Cleburn it’s sticking to my windshield while driving. Say a prayer for me.

I actually fell one time when crossing a street even with hiking boots with very good grip…just not made for skating, lol. So the white stuff is definitely disappearing but the ice is more present than before.

I am off Basswood and 35...where are you located? I haven't tested it, but I will say the road looks slick, not wet. Temp IMBY fluctuates between 27 and barely 28.

I live near Keller Central high school, east of beach and heritage trace in Heritage subdivision.

I teach at Central. How funny.

Anyway, I am trying to see if any rain is mixing in....seems to be pure sleet now after freezing rain for a few hours.

I will say a prayer for traveling safety. This is what makes this weather hard. So many have to risk their safety.

Amazing, the most underrated (under modeled) cold snap I’ve ever seen!

Yep second longest freeze of the 2020s up here behind Feb 2021.

Hopefully, there are some grad students at A&M or OU that will be interested in this event. Has there ever been a freeze of this duration in DFW when the temp range was so narrow, not terribly cold, and Houston & Shreveport failed to hit freezing?

Early Feb 1982 kept coming up on the analog sets. Also the one I've used at 5h to match, A tad bit colder with that one due to decade but not a bad match. Similar duration.

Shallow.

From Jan 14 would've been a good call!

27 here and while my leafless trees look ok, my neighbors with leaves already starting to bend. Big icicles off the roof.

So does DFW expect another batch of freezing rain overnight?

Posting from my iPhone … power has been out now for 12 hours. House down to 57 degrees. Half a million people still without power in Austin. I can’t recall a worse ice storm here.

Still getting intermittent light freezing drizzle and rain. Had to move stuff from the fridge outside in a cooler.

I’m with Wxman57 at this point … winter sucks. This makes two apocalyptic winter weather events in three seasons down here. It used to be fun when the infrastructure was as more reliable. Good luck to all!

Temp up to 29.5 as DP rises. So may help save us a bit if it doesn't drop any, but still cold enough I think for bad impacts.

Hope it don't get too bad there. I'm in jackson tn and we have had virga and not sure if we will get any precipitation now. Dewpoints aren't that low so not sure why we aren't :grr:

Wave of 30F air continues to slowly push east into the Metroplex and the latest hi-res model runs have really cut back on the overnight QPF across DFW. Maybe DFW can get out of this with mostly minor impacts?
