From Ryan Maue on Twitter:
Snow Liquid Ratios (SLR) range from 8-10:1 at 28-32°F
13-15:1 at 10-20°F & 18:1 at 0°F using a regression fit to a bunch of historical obs.

Apply that logic to 1-hourly only-snow QPF from GFSv15 and v16 helps do the job in generating a model-based 5-day snowfall map. ❄️

The road here is turning white despite being very light. It may not be heavy but it is sticking like no other.

Coming in sideways with the wind. It's cold so watching it on my garage Ring camera. Getting whiter by the minute.

DFW folks needs to wake up, it's snowing in their back yards and sticking.

Abilene at 18 degrees and waiting for the snow line to come in from the northwest. We are in the 4-6 inch plus range.

Great to see DFW and vicinity gets to start this snow train early.
Gotta work at 3pm today (Medical Field) so I may try to video my drive to work. Supposed to be near blizzard/whiteout conditions and 8 degrees. :cold: :froze:

Looks like the showers will be from 6-12 here in Lindale when up to an inch could fall. The heavy stuff comes this evening as a convective line of snow arrives around 6. The snow will likely continue all night totaling 3-7" with isolated bands of >8". Temps will be in the teens and falling in the heavy snow. Winds will gust to around 25mph causing 1-2' drifts and wind chill sin the -10s.

My patio and furniture are turning white here in East Dallas. It seems like it's mostly sleet, my shoes aren't leaving any footprints but when I scrape it up off the ground it forms nice little powdery piles.

Just was outside for a few minutes in Norman. Wind is brutal but with a few layers it’s manageable. It’s been snowing for about an hour and we have a decent layer on roadways. Grass is slightly warmer so it’s taking a second to stick. Fairly moderate with occasional slow lulls of light flurries. Wind is whipping the snow and creating beautiful patterns everywhere. This is awesome. :D

Did you look closely at one of the ice grains in a dark surface with some light? I thought some were sleet too at first but then when checked it was needles instead of round, the early round was. So they may sound like sleet but it doesn't look like typical sleet.

There seems to be about a quarter inch of crunch on just about every surface out here in Dallas, though, since I can’t really drive a ruler into it I’m not really sure how much it is. The roads are already done for

Exactly right. Coffee most definitely and one steady knee is all I need.
I used to live in NY State so I know a bit about driving in snow.
Just in case, it is good that I am my own ambulance.
