Sat behind a convoy of road treatment trucks today in DFW...they appear to be treating the roads for no apparent reason. The lack of efficiency of our government municipalities is a massive problem, how do we attempt to fix this issue ?
I wonder if they have a budget and since well it hasnt snowed in years maybe they have to use some money? Lol
Haha maybe brine has an expiration date ?

I’m gonna ride forecast trends like this until all hope is lost, which is probably soon.
.UPDATE...
Temperatures across the northeastern quadrant of the forecast
area are running cooler than forecast, likely due to the stronger
northerly component to the winds compared to the rest of the
region. The GFS actually has the best handle on the current
temperatures and have leaned heavily on it for guidance with this
forecast update, which shows the cooler lows tonight across the
area. Otherwise, patchy drizzle and fog may redevelop overnight,
and fortunately temperatures should remain above freezing.

I’m not sure if this should go in here or not as it’s about the upcoming cold front, but the NAM looks to be trending towards wrap around frozen precipitation for DFW...it hasn’t shown it yet but a bust of just a couple degrees could really change the game.

Chances of any winter weather in the wake of this front look very remote. There just won't be any moisture and/or passing disturbance.

I'm not seeing it on the NAM for the metro unless I'm missing something
Maybe around the Red River

Yeah I think I’m being overly hopeful and generous. It has some precipitation behind the front but it dissipates when it gets to DFW.

Hey, but why not hope!! This is my last chance to hope until next November. Gotta get it out of my system before severe weather season!!

Yep the next day or two exactly describes the dilemma at our latitude. Not cold enough while the precip is here then too dry when the cold is here.
After a few more welcome reports of cold temps over the next few days, this year’s winter thread will mercifully fade away.

Area Forecast Discussion...CORRECTED National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 405 PM CST Sun Mar 3 2019 .UPDATE... We are issuing a Freeze Warning for much of the area tonight from 9pm through noon on Monday. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the low to mid 20s across the Hill Country and Austin Metro area, with upper 20s and lower 30s forecast for the Edwards Plateau, San Antonio metro area, and Coastal Plains. Eight to fifteen hours of freezing temperatures will be possible for those across the Hill Country and Austin Metro area tonight, with a hard freeze expected in the Hill Country. The cold temperatures coupled with the fact that the warmer winter months have led to early planting and some early blooms of area crops, fruit trees, and other plants warrant the issuing of the Freeze Warning to advise not just the public but area farmers and growers of the cold. As noted in the main discussion below this will be the second cold period of this season occurring outside of the normal `winter` period of December to February. In addition to the cold overnight lows the windy conditions will produce wind chills overnight tonight and into Monday morning in the teens. A second Freeze Warning is expected for Monday night into Tuesday as overnight lows will be as cold or colder across the area with a freeze expected for the entirety of our county warning area including the Rio Grande Plains.

Was really hoping the cloud cover would lift so we could tease a record low.
For the November-March timeframe, since 2000, DFW has experienced only 5 record lows. There have been 37 record highs recorded in the same period.

Some light sleet reported W and SW off the Houston metro earlier. No accumulations that I'm aware of.

Looks like we are going to shatter the coldest high temperature record however. The previous for DFW is 35 and current temp at 3pm is 28
Edit: just updated, it’s 30 now. Don’t think there is anyway it will make it 5 more degrees though.

With it being 37 in Houston, any chance we get below the forecasted 32 low tonight? We need it to at least hit freezing fast and for extended hours to kill a few of the damn mosquitoes.
