And to think how bummed some of you were the other night, thinking the storm would be a bust! Remember?!

Like I said, I'm happy for y'all. Get out there and enjoy it. What an amazing snow event for North Texas. You'll be talking about this for years, I bet.

Later today, I may have one of the boys hold a football for me while I kick it. But my son may not like being called Lucy.

I see one storm after another with colder and colder air coming down. Our (Houston) snow chances may be increasing the next few weeks. It just takes the right timing of a passing disturbance with cold air overhead. I don't see any events in the latest model runs, just very cold air. 10-day Euro has cross-Polar flow that dips all the way down to the Gulf! So don't put away those winter coats just yet.
Note: It pained me to say that...
Music to my ears... if the snow chances do indeed increase. I'm growing quite weary of the cold rain. It's depressing to get cold rain event after cold rain event when there's snow not too far away.
Great pics/videos guys. Keep 'em coming. We'll have to live vicariously through your snow as it's been raining all day here. Enjoy it! I sure feel for the kids who had to go to school, though.

We've had about 5 inches or so and it is still snowing good here on the SMU campus. The streets are now covered with thick slush and snow and have gone from wet to white. The campus is closing at 3pm and delaying opening until noon tomorrow. My kids are going to be jealous... Their schools are still on normal schedule. Ha, ha, ha!!!
The students here are having a blast building snowmen and having snowball fights.

Dude ... I didn't even ask! Do you have to rub it in?! Gawd, it's bad enough knowing winter wonderland is just 3 hours to my north.
Sucks for me too...I am watching rain 38-39F here.

KRLD throwing out 10" "or more" for DFW area-wide. Should see increased intensity between now and 6, with light/flurries after that and throughout the night.
It's an historic day.

Pete Delkus says an ADDITIONAL 2-5 inches. On top of 6 inches here so that'd be 10 inches, maybe.

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
The comments that keep are coming out of the Fort Worth NWS office are mind bottling. First, its 1-2 inches, then 2-3, then 4-6, so on and so on, you catch my drift. To top it all off, they make a statement that the last moderate snow band was moving through around 1pm. When clearly, according to the models and radar returns, that another significant snow band will move through around 3 or 4pm. Who is running the show over there, jeez!!

thoughts??
Sure, I have a thought: if you want winter weather, get the heck out of Austin because you sure won't get any here! There ... that's my thought. Now I'll go back down into my bitter hole and look at my North Texas snow pics.
