All you need to do is turn on the metroplex news coverage and you'll see what I'm talking about

No, I've believe you. Just hasn't been as bad (yet anyway) up here along the Red River. And snow has lightened up a good bit in the past 20 minutes or so. From the looks of the radar, I expect it to pick up again in intensity but so far it hasn't.

These roads are some of the worst I've seen around here, comparable to Dec 2013.

I think most were gunshy after the realtively non-event earlier in the week. Impacts were so very highly dependent on the track of the ULL, we went from 10PM newscasts of "whiteout conditions, 6 inches" to a dusting at best.

TXDOT was warned of it coming, but there's only so much they can do until precip starts accumulating.

As far as the ISD's - early release is a big problem for a lot of people. This will be a problem either way, regardless.

:uarrow: And that's only referencing driving conditions. My two teenage sons just made it home from Denison High and they said that it wasn't too bad. Yet. Youngest had his tires spin one time on a hill in town and that was it.

The road in front of my house is 75% wet, 25% snow covered. Guess the high angle of the sun is doing its work on the asphalt.

So could there end up being a Winter Storm Warning issued for this? It is ridiculous out right now. The snow is heavier and larger flakes, when I thought we were close to being finished. It's super windy too and most roads out here are close to impassible.

I think a big factor is that snow at 32 degrees is one thing in Texas in terms of driving, but snow at 24 degrees is quite another thing.

This is crazier than I was expecting... I wasn't expecting true heavy snow and I've even at times seen some blowing snow.

Over an inch here and still coming down.

I would be very surprised if they upgrade it. Criteria is widespread 4" coverage. We've got spots with 3", most with less than 2".

No doubt! I wish I had a live cam to show this. It's almost unbelievable!

Heading out to measure again! :froze:

This is huge. It's 26 in Heath. Starting to see slush on roads, sidewalks, etc.

It's more than I expected, that's for sure. We transitioned back to flurries for about 10 minutes, but now we are getting those larger flakes on the back edge of the band.
