I wouldn't say I'm disappointed(mostly because of my chases in Abilene/Waco) but I definitely noticed how again DFW got less

Well, you could have chased in Oklahoma (10 inch snowstorm & 8 inches 2 days after!), but Waco & Abilene is closer to your home anyway . . .

And also, I found a 3-foot Snowdrift in the Ditch today while clearing out some of the snow from the driveway, there was so much snow, it looked like the Driveway was so much bigger!

yeah but big difference from the other chases, the roads were basically impassable had I chased this week. When I went to Abilene/Waco the roads were wet. I never really considered it because of that plus like I said I was pretty ok with whatever happened as long as DFW broke the streak

just to see DFW with a snowstorm in the mid teens and those strong winds was impressive in its own right. I did expect a little more snow on Wednesday but it is what it is

I can't complain about 4-6" on the ground for about a week but hey north, south, east, west all got a foot . Dry hole curse does exist!

The bill will come due. Places that get a foot mother natures takes on a snow drought for a decade. we paid hard.

Is it actually possible to get a storm track/evolution that results in an accumulation maximum in dfw? It seems that either a coastal low handoff or just a track that’s plain too far north would prevail instead

The Snowfall Forecast almost always has me as the bullsye zone for snow. Maybe I'm the curse?

I was! But I didn’t know very much about pattern recognition back then. How did that setup manage to favor the metroplex, and is it possible to have a similar setup and colder, less borderline temps?

Take the 2009 Christmas Eve blizzard bowling ball, move the ULL track over Waco to Austin instead of over DFW and cash in. Had we not dry slotted totals would have been much higher. Northern stream phasing would make for the best set up. Relying just on southern stream often ends up with strong gulf lows.

81.5 hours after we lost power we finally got it back. No internet but finally have cell phone internet. Water is just a trickle downstairs and none upstairs. Boil water notice of course. Stocked up on water last week so ok there. So many neighbors have no water

Glad they got you all fixed up. Sure has been an interesting few days to say the least. Us Ponder folk just figure out a way. Small towns are great, pros and cons, but I must admit with all that's gone on over the past year I'm glad to be out here.

Kroger yesterday was a zoo. Never seen so many empty shelves. I was buying for 8 people so I had to find alternatives. We managed and my in laws went home today to a home with power and heat. It has been one memorable week. One more cold day then the weekend clean up begins. I would like to be the owner of a few area car washes. One can imagine the lines of vehicles needing a wash after all this. I think I will wait a few days to avoid the inevitable rush.

Never been so happy to have a Costco’s membership until Tuesday afternoon. HEB in Leon Springs got shut down while I was in line. Walmart & Sam’s also closed before sunset. Costco’s, however, looked like it hadn’t been touched.
I work for HEB Home Delivery. We’re shut down until next week but we have the option to work at the stores. To be honest I’m a little afraid of working in the store during this time, but we’ll see what happens.

So can someone post this to thread. I'm going to buying a generator this time around. No power in the cold, or anytime, is not fun.

Buy the biggest you can afford...the little 2000 watt we have is not enough....
But at least we had it...it would run a small room heater tv and dvd that was it.
And buy 2x the amount of gas you think you will need
.

Check out our forum on Storm2k for preparation tips. Lots of info. on generators in this forum:

Well, I was a good sport about my 4.5 to 5 inches.

Until Del Rio got 9 today. I mean, come on. But, it is the first real snow IMBY since we moved to this house in 2015, so I can’t complain. Just nice to have something decent.

Del Rio officially got 11.2

Good news from NWS for tired souls.

They are talking about Friday night/Saturday morning.

We are happy to say this should be the last night below freezing for at least the next week and the last night residents should keep pipes protected.
