dew points dropped off because drier air was filtering in & no the rap has actually backed off quite a bit compared to the 5z last night. But still shows some light bands moving through

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
IMPORTANT
I want to remind everyone here about one of our rules:
12. Storm2K.org does not allow personal attacks and/or personal insults of any kind directed to The National Hurricane Center, it’s staff or any other professional weather organization for that matter. While one may disagree it is very important we keep respecting the weather professionals and their opinions. We are expecting all members to act respectfully at all times.
Last night there were some pretty harsh statements made by multiple persons about certain NWS offices. I do not believe those statements violated the above referenced rule ... but they came close. You can respectfully disagree with a forecast or with a watch/warning (or lack thereof) but you better do it with respect and courtesy as if you were face to face with the person or office with whom you're disagreeing. That is all.

Good... A small amount of ice is bad enough, but .25 or greater would suck. Then again, if it were to fall as fluffy snow, I'd be down with that.

Best of luck on your travel and surgery! It looks like road conditions will start to deteriorate beginning this afternoon. Save travels!

I am concerned as well. Just dropped to 32 here in Del Rio, with drizzle. I teach class at 8 am. Hopefully ground is still warm enough, till it gets above freezing.

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
It appears that whatever is going to happen winter weather-wise in the Austin metro area will be happening shortly. Reports of freezing drizzle are picking up in Travis County, namely southwest and northwest ... I-35 seems to be the dividing line between freezing/non freezing. Radar getting more active to our south and west.
Kingsland now reporting light snow.

Looks like maybe we dodged a bullet? Most of the big districts in DFW aren't delayed. Traffic reports don't sound terrible. A few closings.

Dodged a bullet in terms of freezing drizzle. Still some energy to come through as the day wears on. Radar returns have been increasing a bit to the west over the last couple of hours. We shall see.

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
This is an exciting time of the year. I hope that all of you get a foot of snow today/tomorrow, as it appears this will be the last significant winter weather for Texas this season. Long-range models indicate a quite significant warm air anomaly at 850mb over Texas for the next 2 weeks - as much as 12C-16C above normal by this weekend and early next week. With the zonal flow pattern and arm air aloft, the transition to spring begins in a couple of days.

Like is usually the case with our wintry weather, we won't really know until it starts to fall. I'm heading to work and if starts looking bad I'll leave for home. It does look like all the hype from the previous pages hasn't panned out yet.

Next several days (beyond today) are yours, indeed.
But as for this being the last significant winter weather event for the state? Given the trends of the last few months, I wouldn't bet the farm on that just yet.
Besides, those long range magic eight balls have a Cat 5 parked out in the Gulf in a few weeks!
