Back on topic, it's really chilly and windy outside. Big difference from the 65 earlier man that was nice!

:uarrow: Nothing has really changed, expect cold and light snow 1-3 inches as FW nws has said. If anything drastic changes im sure someone will post it. FW is part of DFW, and in general when people post about DFW it includes Fort Worth.

Is it actually, truely FINALLY possible for San Angelo to get a meaningful snow? Its been 7 years since we have had a snow you could play in.

Love the sense of humor from FTW NWS 9:49 update. :cheesy:

.UPDATE...
ZONE PACKAGE REMAINS IN GOOD SHAPE AND WILL NOT BE UPDATED THIS
EVENING.

THE 00Z NAM CONTINUES TO SHOW A HEAVY SNOWFALL AXIS ALONG A
COMANCHE TO PALESTINE LINE WITH ONE INCH OR LESS AMOUNTS TO THE NORTH
OF I-20. IN FACT...TONIGHTS NAM RUN HAS INCREASED SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
TO BETWEEN 3 AND 4 INCHES OVER THE SOUTHERN HALF...WHICH IS ABOUT
DOUBLE OF THE 18Z RUN.

THE GFS HAS NOT COME IN FOR EVALUATION...BUT THE 12 AND 18Z RUNS
REMAIN VERY BULLISH FOR HEAVY SNOWFALL OVER A LARGE CHUCK OF THE
CWA. THE 18Z RUN PAINTED UP TO 6 INCHES ALONG I-20 AND ACROSS
THOSE COUNTIES JUST TO THE SOUTH OF I-20.

GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF SYNOPTIC LIFT AND AND FRONTOGENETIC FORCING
ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-20 WITH THIS SYSTEM...WE/LL HOLD THE CURRENT
FORECAST INTACT. WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF 2-4 INCHES FALL OVER
THE SOUTHERN METROPLEX WITH ISOLATED SWATCHES OF 5-8 INCHES FOR
BANDED SNOW OVER THE SOUTHERN 1/2 WHERE THE NAM SHOWS THE HEAVIER
AMOUNTS. ACTIVE WARNING AND ADVISORIES FOR SNOW WILL LIKELY BE
ISSUED WITH TOMORROW MORNINGS FORECAST.

EL NINO WINTERS...YOU GOTTA LOVE THEM.

That pic cuts off my area, but I'm in the pink! Not sure if I ever have been with the NAM. I hope the GFS likes me too. And yes, I know that light pink is next to nothing, but it's better than nothing and that's what I'm hoping for now. lol

I know Portastorm is trying to contain his excitement for the sake of letdown, but I'm sure he is about to burst! He's been waiting for this all winter... and then some.

I'm right on the top edge of the heavy snow. Seems like South Dallas, and Austin are the edges for the light-to-heavy snow accumulations. Waco to College Station looks like a sure bet.

This is a banding situation, if you can sit under one of those heavy bursts long enough you're set to go!

I didn't notice any temperature differences worth spouting about but I did notice that the 0z GFS stretches the duration of the precipitation longer by 6 hours in parts of west central, central, and east/southeast Texas. That is an interesting twist to be sure.

Yeah southerngale, I'm doing all I can to not get too high on our snow chances. Sure I'm excited ... but cautiously slow. However, given tonight's model guidance ... here's a news bulletin issued from the Portastorm Weather Center in Austin.

-----------------
"FIELD GOALS WITH LUCY" PARTY WATCH ISSUED

The Portastorm Weather Center has issued a Field Goals with Lucy Party Watch for the Austin metropolitan area effective 8 am Tuesday through 1 pm Wednesday. This means conditions are ripe for winter weather in the Austin area, meaning Lucy would not take the football away prior to Portastorm kicking it over the goal post! This is the second watch issued this winter season. The first watch was cancelled when winter weather did not occur or threaten to occur in Austin. Stay tuned for later advisories as warnings may need to be issued depending on the forecast.
