Not to derail.. but CBS 11 in Dallas now has a mix in the DFW forecast for Friday *and* Sunday. Temps look a little warm on their graphic though.

When the next wave of cold starts moving in this evening it should start heading more ESE to SE.

The 12z ECMWF backed off a little, that is why i was mentioning. But the latest 18z has gone a little colder aloft for north Houston to support snow tomorrow evening. That and looking at obs north of us, makes it seem that the GFS has the right idea, and the 12z ECMWF is too warm. Enjoy your snow day to the north guys...and Austin, College Station. Maybe I can squeeze out an inch...
Doesn't it bother you that current temps/dew points across central and SE TX are so high? I think central TX will get significant accumulations but we're still at 57/42 in Houston (temp/dew pt). I'm just not sure that cold air advection will drop our surface temps enough for any significant accumulations in Houston. Might accumulate briefly on grass and cars, but as soon as the precip ends it would melt fairly quickly. Even the 18Z which has the 1" accumulation down to central Houston doesn't have temps at IAH below 35 before the precip ends. Something doesn't smell right...

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
Strange, my NWS forecast shows little to no accumulation, yet the NWS SHV puts me in 2"-4" with isolated 5". That's like the exact opposite of my forecast.
I dunno though, I feel like I might end up with .25-.50" of snow.

Austin NWS is still stubborn for the city of Austin, poor Portastorm. Everyone (including places expecting precip later than Austin) have all upgraded to advisories and warnings even in S\E Texas. Travis county is still sit and wait situation lol

been busy today with some stuff around here so have not had much time to post thoughts but looking quite impressive
out near ama also just think everyone should take note of the latest ruc run showing a good bit up to the north panhandle, nw tx region over the next 12 hrs or so so the north end of this needs to be watched closely

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
so is the snow currently in the panhandle going to move southeast and be the snow that we receive here in cs, or is more going to form and head our way?
