wxgirl, it's difficult to tell since im not from the area, the radar shows that a band within houston and the southside (im guessing pearland, league city, baytown etc) are getting a good dosing of snow, areas to the east\northeast of that have not yet changed over. I don't want to give bad advice for your husband but it's best he waits out on this as the snow is very local. Where it does fall it comes down at a hard clip. I would check traffic on your local news site for closures.

It will get pretty chilly tonight as much of Texas will be in the 20s for overnight lows. Spots where melting\snow leftover will likely freeze overnight and create slick spots

Just got back from Memorial City hospital. HEAVY snow along I-10 west, visibility 1/4 mile or less. I left at 12:25 and it wasn't bad. Within 5 minutes is was nuts. Heavy and very slow traffic due to schools and businesses closing early. Snow started sticking and accumulated very quickly until I hit the Bear Creek area where it wasn't as heavy for as long. All through Addicks Reservoir is all white.

Already seeing fender benders out there, so please SLOW DOWN and pump your brakes! Roads also getting slippery and slush building up.

I should have known better when the dewpoint steadily dropped all morning that we'd have a virga storm here in Austin!

I should have known better when I saw the big blue snowshield on radar diminish in size and scope noticeably all morning!

I should have known better on Wednesday morning when HPC suggested Austin might see up to four inches of snow today that it was nothing more than Lucy in disguise.

We have five minutes of a snow flurry in downtown Austin. It is now done and the sun is coming out. All I have to say is ....

The snow in San Angelo is almost all gone and the roads are drying. We didn't get to play as the schools were not even delayed this morning. The roads were mainly just slushy, not icy. If it continues to dry this afternoon, tonight will be fine, otherwise it will be black ice hell.

Portastorm, it was this way for most of us with the exception of southeast texas, the NAM somehow had this into its 'calculations' lol...cold, dry air (VIRGA)....or that darn omega block

Because the surface temperatures aren't freezing or below, the forecast was for the cold advection to <32 to be in the afternoon. The precipitation came a bit early and will exit early before it gets cold enough. Seems so far wet bulbing has been a big factor. Where the precip falls the heaviest, cold air is dragged down enough to see snow for a quick coating and melt soon after the bands pass by.
