Something else I noticed is forecasts west and east of us are now showing chances of winter precip on wed night and thursday. Of course we are just rain. Like I said before our office seems to always come in last for any chance of winter weather.

more snow for the coast = less for my area (Atlanta) :grr: but i dont mind, I'll be stationed at Ft. Bragg NC soon so im sure ill see my share of snow up there.

I was on the phone speaking to someone in Ridgeland (sp?), MS and the guy told me it just started snowing, looked pretty he said but it wasn't sticking. He told me he was on the outskirts of Jackson, MS. Anyone else received any reports of snow in central or northern MS today? It started out sunny here but is now overcast today but no precip.

Don't read too much into the 30 percent. They are just using that as caution. Chances are actually much higher.
Well have a happy birthday in advance. Speaking of snow I just got off the phone with someone in Ridgeland(sp?), MS who told me it was snowing there, looked pretty but wasn't sticking. Interesting.

Mendenhall, is that near Magee or Mize? I spoke to relatives in Magee about 30 minutes ago and they weren't getting any precip, it was cloudy and cold. I was looking at the extended weather forecast for here, on Friday it's forecasted to get down to 15F, 15F!!!!!!!! That can't be right can it? If it is that's mighty cold for down here.

Mobile discussion saying it could possibly be even colder along the coast, and chances for wintry precip are definitely in the forecast. Just do not know how much quite yet.

...POTENTIAL FOR WINTRY WEATHER ACROSS THE ARKLAMISS REGION FOR
WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY FOLLOWED BY FRIGID AIR...

A VERY COLD AIRMASS WILL AFFECT THE REGION THIS WEEK. MEANWHILE...A
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DEVELOP OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO FOR THE
MIDDLE OF THIS WEEK...WHILE A POWERFUL COLD FRONT SURGES
SOUTHEASTWARD. MOISTURE FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO WILL COMBINE WITH
THESE FEATURES TO RESULT IN THE POTENTIAL FOR WINTRY PRECIPITATION
ACROSS THE AREA FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY. AT THE PRESENT
TIME...CONSIDERABLE UNCERTAINTY EXISTS WITH REGARD TO THE EXACT
PRECIPITATION TYPE AND AMOUNT ACROSS THE AREA. HOWEVER...THE
POTENTIAL DOES EXIST FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW TO AFFECT PORTIONS OF THE
AREA...ESPECIALLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE 20.

THE COLD FRONT WILL USHER IN A BITTERLY COLD AIRMASS FOR THURSDAY
NIGHT INTO THE WEEKEND...WITH OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE
SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS AND HIGH TEMPERATURES REMAINING BELOW
FREEZING ACROSS MANY AREAS. NORTH WINDS WILL COMBINE WITH THE COLD
TEMPERATURES TO RESULT IN DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILL READINGS NEAR
ZERO AT TIMES.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO MONITOR ADDITIONAL OUTLOOKS AND FORECASTS FROM THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR DETAILS REGARDING THE POTENTIAL FOR
WINTRY WEATHER FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY AND FRIGID
TEMPERATURES THEREAFTER. ALSO...TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO
PREPARE FOR THE BITTERLY COLD AIR.

This morning was a SHOCKER i thought i was seeing things. Snow always makes mondays better :D

Copiah county, MS. 28F light snow no accumulation 2:21 PM............and not a single broken/frozen pipe call!

Plumbing pipes will freeze in the next few days. Keep all faucets at a drip. Send me a message for repairs or questions. Some of the old timers around here anticipate single digits. I dunno? Crawling around under homes fixing water lines in the winter with mud and cold is miserable. But when you need work, everything is possible.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOBILE AL

WITH THE PERSISTENT COLD DEEP LAYER AIRMASS IN PLACE...FORECASTERS
ARE WATCHING FOR THE NEXT POTENTIAL OF MOISTURE TO MOVE ACROSS THE
GULF COAST...WHICH COULD BRING A BOUT OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION ACROSS
THE DEEP SOUTH. WITH THAT SAID...THE WEATHER PATTERN LOOKS TO BECOME
INCREASINGLY INTERESTING AS WE HEAD INTO LATE WEDNESDAY CARRYING
THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT.

THE DEEP LAYER AIRMASS WILL REMAIN COLD ENOUGH TO SUPPORT FROZEN
PRECIPITATION...THE TIMING...CHARACTER AND DURATION OF WHICH WILL
VARY DEPENDING ON WHICH SOLUTION VERIFIES. FORECASTERS THINK ALL OF
THE LOCAL AREA COULD SEE A STRONG PROBABILITY OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION
THURSDAY. WILL LEAVE IT AT THAT FOR NOW AND WILL NOT DELVE INTO
ACCUMULATIONS AS THIS IS STILL A FEW DAYS OUT AND MUCH MORE GUIDANCE
TO DIAGNOSE BEFORE THEN.

WOULD NOT BE ATALL SURPRISED THAT WE STRUGGLE TO GET OUT OF THE 30S MOST AREAS
THURSDAY IF THE CURRENT GFS PHYSICAL SOLUTION VERIFIES WITH ITS MORE
SOUTHERLY...EASTWARD TRACK OF ITS LOW. A VERY CHALLENGING
TEMPERATURE FORECAST AS WELL.

18z NAM coming in much colder and brings snow all the way to the coast. This is the best setup I have seen in a long time for snow for the Gulfcoast, including the immediate coast.

Love it Ivan, I'd be happy just to see a few flurries. Anything more than that would just be icing on the cake. We shouldn't have to put up with THESE kind of temps without getting something in return lol
