Interesting short-term weather

#1 Postby wall_cloud » Sun Mar 02, 2008 3:25 pm

I know most of you Texas residents don't consider the Panhandle to be part of your state, but the weather will be quite interesting over the next 12-24 hours. We have a severe thunderstorm watch in the east, a snow/blowing snow advisory areawide (as well as a wind advisory for this evening), and a winter storm warning bordering us to the east. Combine that with a red flag warning just to our south and we've pretty much got it all.

Take a peek if you get a chance...

Any chance of an upgrade to a Blizzard Warning?

I wouldn't rule it out. If the snow is adequate to reduce vsbys tonight, it could happen. I am on from Midnight to 8 AM, so I've got my work cut out for me LOL

I know its wrong to question a pro-met, but notice Wall Cloud complains we ignore the Panhandle, when he is the one who mocks the quixotic quest of the Southeast Texas posters to find the happy confluence on the 228 hour GFS of sub 540 dm thicknesses and 850 mb freezing lines and precip over HOU.

:D

(Ack, he answered my question about an upgrade, but I'll still poke the anthill of those that belittle a boys dream of a snow day in HOU)

only I'm not talking about a model forecast 228 hours out. I'm talking about day 1. But thanks for hijacking my thread :cheesy:

and for the record, I just as well not see any snow tonight. Thunderstorms, sure. Snow, no. Although I guess verification of the snow/blowing snow advisory would be nice.

I'm starting to have nagging doubts that HOU will see snow in the 2007-2008 winter season.

yep, its getting pretty late in the season. By mid March, IAH record low temps are hovering close to the freezing mark. Temps are warming. If you are going to get some, you better get it soon.

I live north of Atlanta, in Canton, GA. Could you tell me if we're going to be getting severe weather followed by snow early Tues. AM? We're getting conflicting info from different local TV stations. Thanks!

Navy term from 1980s- are you on watch yet? Gulf of Mexico drilling rig term from late 1990s- same meaning- are you on tour (pronounced "tower") yet?

For a night like tonight, I'd go in early and enjoy the job.

You know how you'd be a baseball pitcher if you really could be? Like when you were 8 years old? This is as close as you come to actually being a major leage baseball player.
